Hey there Delilah

Im a thousand miles away

Saturday October 31st 11pm
It was an hour after I brought her in when Delilah's eyes finally opened. She looked around confused and tried to sit up but I pushed her back down. "Charlotte where am I?" She asked looking around and breathing quickly "Delilah we're in a hospital" I said Delilah turned to look around "what happened?" She asked "we don't really know" I said "I was on my way to the Halloween party at Amelia campbells house and found you on the side of the road" Delilah's eyes widen and I find myself staring into her innocent green gaze. "I bought you here and we've been waiting an hour for you to wake up" I explain and she shuffles up the bed.

The doctor from earlier re-enters the room and smiles to see Delilah awake. "You're up I see" he says walking over to stand on the other side of Delilah's bed. Delilah seems to finally notice that she's gripping my hand and let's go quickly "and finally let go of your friend progress is made" he takes out a clipboard and Delilah looks up at me "you haven't let go of me since I picked you up" I said and she looks away an awkward blush covering her cheeks. i smile to myself and the doctor breaks our silence "well i'd like to assess miss robinson for injuries now she's awake but we have a few forms for you miss kennedy" i nod and look to delilah "are you okay if i go delilah" she looks nervously up at me and slowly shakes her head "please stay" she grasps my arm again and i lower myself back down into my chair beside her "can i do the forms here while she's assessed?" i ask and the doctor nods "ill go get them" he walks off presumably to do that and i look at delilah who looks anywhere but at me.

i fill out my forms and listen to what the doctors asking delilah "do you remember what happened before you woke up here?" he asks and i see her shake her head over my papers "charlottes told me that she found me and brought me here but i don't remember how i ended up on the side of the road" she says and the doctor nods and then looks at me. i quickly go back to writing my answers and listen to him ask her whats the last thing she remembers is. theres silence as if she's thinking " i- i remember being at the party but i don't remember leaving or anything" she says and the doctor makes a hmm sound. "do you feel any pain?" he asks and she replies quicker " just a headache and my hands" i look up again as she lets go of my hand to see her holding up scraped up palms. i look down at my questions and notice some dried blood smudged where she was holding my hand. "We'll I think your hands will be fine but a headache?" He says making unsure sounds as he looks down at his clipboard "I think I'll send in a nurse to do some exams and then I'll see about scans" he says and we both watch him leave.

"I'm sorry" she suddenly says "what for?" I ask looking at her confused "for making you waste your Halloween in a hospital with me" she says and my face softens "Delilah this is not a waste you need me here so of course I'm here" I say and she tips her head to the side "really?" She asks and she sounds so vulnerable it feels like that question matches the energy of her whine when i tried to let go of her. That thought which had no right to even exist makes me breathe a little quicker as I reply "of course" I say "I'm always here darling" I take her hand again and she blushes as I smile at her. "I promise" I sense her reaction to darling is happiness so I decide fuck it and it place a kiss on the back of her hand.

Right as I lower her hand back down the nurse walks into the room. I imagine what he must see me smiling and looking into her eyes and her so pink it's bordering on red as we hold hands.

"Due to the area and intensity of the trauma to your head miss Robinson we believe you were hit by a vehicle at a low speed and fell hitting your head. It's possible after the initial injury you remained awake and that could be why the driver did not stay with you or call for help" the doctor explains and Delilah nods and rubs absent minded circles on the back of my hand for some reason it's making me shiver.

"As you have a head injury you need to be supervised for the next 24 hours by someone else who can bring you back here if you see any memory loss, odd vision or hallucinations and any intense pain" I turn to her "are your parents home?" I ask everyone knows that Delilah's parents are rich and very absent hence all her parties. She worriedly shakes her head and I tentatively offer a suggestion "do you want me to look after you?" I ask and she quickly nods "that's fine I'll stay with her" I turn to the doctor who nods "right constant supervision until" he looks up at the clock "one am tomorrow morning and then she needs to be not left home alone for two days after that" I nod "I'll go to George's tomorrow I just know he's going to be hungover and won't want to watch me" she says and I nod "if that's all okay we can discharge you now miss Robinson" the doctor interjects.
