Willow Wolfsbane. Species: werewolf. Fifteen years old. There’s not much to say about her. Being a monster in Weston Point already gave her a reputation. Being the only werewolf in Weston Point only adds to it.

That night Willow sat down with her family to eat dinner. Her parents sat next to each other. Her brother sat next to her. Ryker Wolfsbane, practically the smaller version of his sister. Their appearances were fairly similar. Their parents were quite strict, “Ryker, don’t use your hands. We’re not beasts.”
“But we’re wolves.”
“Just use a fork son.”
“Okay dad.”
“Willow, you've been awfully quiet.”
“Isn’t that just normal?”
“Look at that she speaks.”
“Since when do you care if I have something to say?”
“Look I know you don’t like it here…”
“I’m finishing dinner in my room.”
“Willow.”
“Honney, she’s not a kid anymore.”
“Is Willow okay?”
“She’s fine Ryker. How was your day kiddo?” her dad replied. The scene of a normal happy family resumed in the dining room. The truth of it was neither child was okay. Especially Willow.

She sat in her new room. The boxes littered all over the room. She sat on the floor in the light of the moon. She sat there and ate. Once she was finished she set the plate on her desk. Then she looked out the window at the moon. Her fangs formed in her mouth, her eyes grew wider, her ears became pointed, and her fingernails grew sharper. Her werewolf form was nothing spectacular, but it was her natural form. Once she was transformed, a somber howl escaped her lips. She sat in the dark, illuminated only by the moon. The song of a sad wolf.

She woke up in her wolf form. She knew her parents couldn’t see her like that. She cleaned everything up from last night. Today they would be touring the school. Ryker was ten so they would be touring both schools. She was not looking forward to this.

Thankfully Willow was touring her school with her father. They pulled into the parking lot. Willow wasn’t pleased about this. Her father could tell, “I know you probably hate us…”
“I don’t hate you.”
“And your mother?”
“I’m not very fond of the woman.”
“Good to know I’m on your good side moonbeam.”
“I just wish she would listen more. She doesn’t care what I have to say.”
“Well, hopefully you’ll make some new friends.”
“I’m perfectly happy being…”
“Don’t lie to me Willow. I know my daughter better than anyone. Now let’s go inside.” he said. They both got out of the car. Willow never had any friends. No other monsters or even humans would look her way. For years she lied to herself and convinced everyone that she was fine on her own.

They walked into the front office. Willow felt uneasy. She smelt someone and it made her uncomfortable, “Dad, I don’t think…”
“Willow…”
“Seriously dad. I smell something troubling.”
“You’re being ridiculous.” He replied. Then they locked eyes. A girl with pale skin, red eyes, and black hair was on the other side of the room. She was dressed head to toe in black. That’s where the scent had come from. Willow didn’t like that smell. It was one that was all too familiar, the smell of a vampire.

Then her dad finally took notice as she started to growl. Thankfully the principal showed up before anything could happen, “You must be the Wolfsbanes. Just the two of you?”
“Yes. My wife and my son are at the elementary school. This is my daughter Willow.”
“Nice to meet you both. I assume you’re werewolves.”
“Yes. Is that a vampire?”
“Where are my manners? This will be Willow’s guide while you and I see to some final arrangements.” the principal replied. The two went off one direction while the girls were left alone.

The girl walked toward Willow. Willow growled at her. The vampire came closer unwaved by Willow's warning. Then they came face to face, “You’re Willow right?”
“You heard it correctly.”
“Victoria, Victoria Pureblood.”
“I could smell you vampire.”
“Calm down fido. If I wanted to hurt you I would’ve done it by now. Never met a werewolf before. They were all wiped out a long time ago from this area. There are hardly any native monsters left here.”
“What about you?”
“I’ve lived all over the place. I’m… older than I look.”
“Born or…?”
“Born. Same as you. You’ll fit in with us just fine.”
“I don’t…”
“You want to be left alone. You’re a lone wolf.”
“I guess so.”
“Trust me. We’re the perfect pack for you. Let’s get a move on. You did come here for a tour after all.” Victoria replied. WIllow followed her into the school. She was still uncomfortable being around a vampire. At her old school the vampires ruled over everyone and their target of choice was Willow. Here there weren’t as many monsters in town for a monster only school so the school was a blend of monsters and humans. This was the start of something new. Maybe this time she wouldn’t have to be a lone wolf.
