During their journey to Sumeru, our two protagonists had a rather unusual adventure in a village on the evening of 31 October.
Unfortunately ーor rather fortunately ?ー neither of them could remember it.
Well, just for you, my dear readers, I'm going to tell you what happened that night.
Flashback: it's 31 October, in the middle of the afternoon.

Pov Scaramouche:

I'll never understand humans. Even today, they remind me of this very real reality.

Why, once a year, do they want to dress up like fairground animals to beg other people for sweets?
It makes no sense, it's stupid and tiring, and on top of that it's appallingly ugly.

I sighed, annoyed that the inhabitants of the little village where we'd stopped were so enthusiastically preparing this stupid, pointless party.
Y/n was locked in her room, trying on some clothes she'd bought earlier in a rather sinister shop where a strange old woman had been counting the same coins throughout our "visit" to the place.

She refused to show me what she had bought, saying she would see it later, and hurried back to our miniature flat, which we rented for just a handful of moras.

I hope she didn't play that stupid game of dressing up as fictional monsters that only scare three-year-olds.

A soft voice that I knew all too well drew me from my thoughts, accompanied by the shrill creaking of the obviously badly oiled door.

<<Scaramouche, what... What do you think? Does it suit me?" the h/c whispered shyly.

-You're not going to take part in these childish and pointless games, are you?
Wow..." I breathed, speechless at the sight of the ravishing young woman in front of me.

I didn't reply, too busy looking at the costume Y/n was wearing. It was a sublime vampire costume, with glowing shades that matched her beautiful skin perfectly. The white lace ruffle mixed with gold threads was a perfect match for the long black cape in pure satin, with small embossed shapes ー surely velvet ー adding a touch of chic to the whole.

Her hair, usually done up in a high ponytail/untied/low ponytail, was topped with a little black veil and a satin-finish white hat, with little black laces forming sumptuous flowers.
And her black suede boots, their laces braided with gold and silver thread, came up to her mid-calf, hiding the bottom of the black trousers she was wearing.

-Magnificent... I let out a breath as I contemplated her outfit as a whole.

-Thank you..." she breathed, lowering her head.

I realised what I'd just said, then turned my head sharply, embarrassed by my rather too honest compliment.

She really is gorgeous, that outfit suits her so well...
But why wear it? Surely she doesn't want to party with other humans tonight?

-Y/n, you don't want to-

-There's one for you too! I'll go and get it, I'll be back! I'm convinced it'll look great on you!" she said as she ran off to her room, leaving me alone in the small living room.

...
There's no way I'm going to stoop to wearing one of those suits.

She returned a few minutes later, two large bags in hand, and handed them to me with a smile.
