Chapter One

Third Person POV

8 years later

    "Alicia!" Morgan yelled as the short brunette dropped yet another plate onto the ground. Alicia smiled innocently at her best friend while stepping away from the shattered plate. 

   "Jesus fuck woman. You are the most clumsy woman I have ever met." Morgan scolded while going to the broom closet and grabbing the broom and dustpan.

   "It's not my fault that I didn't have a good enough grip on the plate!" Alicia tried to defend herself but this was the third plate she had broken in the last month. Morgan muttered something in Spanish before shoving the broom into Alicia's hands.

   "You need to buy us more plates," Morgan mumbled pretending to be angry although both of them knew she wasn't. 

   Alicia smiled brightly at her friend before sweeping all of the broken pieces into the dustpan. 

   It has been about seven and a half years since Alicia had heard from Colby Brock. The two started off talking every day like he had promised but slowly the two lost contact as Colby got busier and more popular on YouTube. 

   After their channel blew up he had even unfollowed her off of all social media which was the hardest blow. She didn't understand what had happened. 

   It killed Alicia at first to be without her best friend but then on a family vacation three years ago in California, she met Morgan Sanchez who lived in the area. The two had become best friends over the short vacation and soon Morgan begged Alicia to move in with her. She claimed the distance between them was killing her and she just wanted Alicia there. 

   Alicia was hesitant about moving to California because of the fear of running into Colby after so many years but knowing she was moving hours away from him she figured that she would be okay. She ended up falling in love with the beautiful state. Although her fear of running into her childhood best friend terrified her. 

   Flashback (the first video they made at the conjuring house) 

 One day when Alicia came home from work she noticed a familiar YouTuber on their TV. She had avoided his channel like the plague and it was the first time she had seen it in years. She never expected Morgan to be watching them.

   "Alicia come look at this! They went to the real-life conjuring house." Alicia hesitantly walked over and sat next to her roommate. Colby was standing on the screen next to a girl with blonde hair and they seemed to be in some sort of library. 

   Alicia didn't pay any mind to the girl as her eyes stayed glued on her old best friend who hadn't changed all that much. He still had the bright radiating smile and the same music-like laugh. 

   Alicia's heart had fallen to her feet as she watched him laugh with Sam and the girl who she learned was named Amanda. 

   "Isn't this so cool? I would love to do something like this but I think my mother would beat me with her flip flop." Morgan said mumbling something in Spanish about her mother. Alicia let out a winded laugh. 

   "Girl, are you okay? I know this is scary but you look like you've seen a ghost." Morgan said pausing the video.

   "Well." 

Flashback over

   Alicia told Morgan everything and after that day Morgan never put Sam and Colby on their TV and if she watched them it would be on her phone. However from that night on Alicia started to watch her old friend's videos. 

  Although he hadn't spoken to her in years a feeling of pride washed over her every single time she saw how far he had gone. She was proud because she knew that this had been a dream of his since they were just kids. She just wished that she could've been a part of that.
