"Miss Palmer, welcome," a deep voice greeted her. Claudia turned to see 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒛 standing at the top of the grand staircase. He was even more handsome in person, with dark, wavy hair and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her.
"Thank you," she replied, her voice barely audible. She felt a strange mix of nervousness and curiosity as he descended the stairs to meet her.
"I'm glad you could come," 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 said, offering her a warm smile. "I know this must be difficult for you."
𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 nodded, unsure of what to say. She had rehearsed this moment in her mind countless times, but now that it was happening, she felt at a loss for words.
"Would you like to take a walk in the garden?" 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 suggested, sensing her discomfort. "It's quite beautiful this time of year."
𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 agreed, grateful for the chance to escape the imposing mansion. They walked side by side through the manicured gardens, the silence between them both comforting and awkward.
"I know this arrangement isn't ideal," 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 began, breaking the silence. "But I want you to know that I have no intention of forcing you into anything you're not comfortable with."
𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 looked up at him, surprised by his honesty. "Thank you," she said softly. "I appreciate that."

𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. Maybe this wouldn't be as terrible as she had feared. "I would like that," she said, meeting his gaze.
𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 smiled, and for the first time, 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒂 felt a sense of connection with him. It was a small.
