"Emiko... did you?" She heard someone call out to her making her break from her daydream. She turned to look at the person next to her. Her best friend Itachi was waiting for an answer.
"Of course I did Itachi, why would I not finish an assignment? This class is too easy" She spoke as she dug into her bag and pulled out a few papers handing them to Itachi who picked them up and looked over them then looked over at his own papers.
"Hn, we both have all the same answers" He spoke making Emiko look over at him, rolling her eyes.
"Sorry to disappoint Uchiha, but I am as smart as you... maybe even smarter" She teased him making him roll his eyes. He got up and went to turn in both their assignments. Emiko smiled at the boy as he came back.
"Thank you Itachi, sorry I was running late...my alarm did not go off" Emiko rubbed the back of her head as she looked at Itachi who took his seat next to her. She watched as he rolled his eyes.
"Emiko, you are always almost late.." was all he said last before the teacher demanded their attention as the lesson had begun. Emiko half paid attention due to knowing all of this already. She noticed Itachi doing the same. After all what more would you expect from 'prodigy' kids. An Uchiha and a Hayashi two of the most prolific families in the whole city of Konoha. One part of the police force family and the other a family who donated to them and helped them out when asked for, but very different. One family strives for power no matter what and the other family would do anything to protect their own.
The whole class seemed to drag on slowly for Emiko who already knew what the teacher had been teaching. The only reason she was staying awake today was due to Itachi elbowing her every time it seemed she was about to fall asleep. To Emiko that bell couldn't have rang sooner. She watched as all the kids quickly grabbed their belongings and rushed out of the classroom. Her and Itachi were one of the last students to leave as they did not want to deal with so many people rushing around them, bumping into them, trying to have small talk. Not that many people dared to approach them. As Emiko finished packing up her stuff she noticed Itachi waiting for her by the door which made her pick up her pace. A tiny hint of a smile on her lips as she reached her best friend and they both began to walk down the hall together towards the doors that lead outside.
"E-Emiko-Chan" She heard someone call out to them a few feet away from them. This caught the attention of now only the two, but a few people around them, knowing exactly what was going to happen. No one really dared talk to them unless it was for a class project, or to confess. Emiko hoped and prayed it was the first, but Itachi's ghost of a smirk was telling her differently. She turned around to face a boy around their age who looked nervous. It probably had to do with the fact that Itachi was there next to her, of the fact that both of them held a look of boredom on their face.
"Yes..Riku-kun?" Emiko asked the boy who still looked like he was about to cry. Her blue eyes scanned him head to toe, a bit annoyed at the stuttering mess he was.
"W-Would you l-like t-" She held up her hand for him to stop talking, she could not stand the stuttering. She took a step towards the boy who looked terrified.
"Riku-Kun before you want to ask me out I suggest you focus on school... I've seen your grades... they're horrible the only reason we have ever even talked was because the teacher asked me to help you out" She whispered so only he could hear. Riku clenched his fists in anger.
"Looks aren't everything... Iv'e heard what you've been saying about thinking I'm easy... if i was you wouldn't be standing here stuttering." She finished whispering in his ear. His face was red in embarrassment and anger. She took a step back from him. Itachi moving closer to her as he noticed Riku raising his clenched fist slowly.
"Do not be a bigger fool Riku and put that fist down" Emiko spoke sounding bored. Riku turned to look at Itachi then back at Emiko. If their glares could kill he would have been six feet under already. He took a step back away from them finally turning around and leaving. Itachi chucking and Emiko rolling her eyes as they turned back around and made their way outside the school grounds to head home.
From a distance a group of people watched what had happened.
"What an idiot that kids" Spoke a voice making the others agree.
"Don't you agree Kakashi?" Spoke another male voice making Kakashi look up from his book.
"Sorry what?" Kakashi asked making them all roll their eyes. What they didn't know was that Kakashi watched the whole thing.
"Isn't that Emiko Hayashi and Itachi Uchiha?" Kurenai, one of the females asked making Asuma nod his head.
"Yes the youngest of the Hayashi family and the eldest son of the police force's boss..." Asuma spoke as they watched the two walk away.
"Theyre two grades below us right?" Guy asked making the others, but Kakashi nod.
"They are in their second year, but apparently they are the smartest kids in the whole grade" Anko spoke. Kakashi rolled his eyes at his friends gossiping making him close his book and stand up from where he was sitting.
"Let's get going, I have somewhere to be later on tonight" He spoke making them all look at him.

"Okay Emiko, I'll see you tomorrow, don't forget tomorrow is Friday and the essay is due" Itachi reminded his friend who nodded her head.
"Iv'e had it done since it was given to us and I know you too...Please let Sasuke know I say hi, such a little cutie, I hope I can see him this weekend" Emiko gushed about Itachi's little brother Sasuke who was 5 years younger than them. She adored the 10 year old since she was the youngest and only one older brother. Itachi nodded his head.
"See ya tomorrow Itachi, and thank you for trying to defend me today, but you know I wouldn't have let him lay a finger on me~" Emiko smirked making Itachi smile.
"I know, but you never know with these crazy guys our age" He spoke waving at his best friend before they parted ways. They lived one block away from each other which was great since they were able to walk home together and only walked alone for about 5 minutes each.
As soon as Emiko got home she was greeted by her mother who seemed to be in a rush.
"What is going on?" Emiko asked her mother who stopped to greet her. A warm smile on her lips.
"Your father and his crazy ideas, he has thrown together a last minute dinner party so now we are all getting ready" Haruko informed her daughter who only nodded her head understandingly.
"Sooo no training or anything today?" Emiko asked her mom who shook her head.
"No hun, your father and your brother are both upstairs getting ready, you know men and their need to wear the perfect suit and tie" Her mother giggled making Emiko smile and nod.
"Okay then I will go get ready for this event" Emiko kissed her moms cheek and began to walk away upstairs and towards her room.
