The sky was dark, and beautiful speckles of stars glided throughout it. The night was cold, suffocated by the glistening snow sprinkling down. The moon reflected on the lake, bringing waves of light through my window. It was a beautiful night, it seemed mystical, like a fairytale from my childhood. Here I lay on my bed, eyes wide open because I couldn't sleep. I was staring out the window at the glazing stars.
The pinching glow of my blue lit alarm clock read 10:30 PM. I had been laying here for over an hour now, letting my thoughts consume me.
Nova always got good rest, she would never toss and turn in her bed like this, letting all her overwhelming thoughts and overthinking get to her head. She would always get the perfect nine hours of sleep and be ready and happy to go to school the next morning. I hated school, I hated everything about it.
I listened closely to the loud TV coming from outside my door. Mother was still awake. I had felt worried for her ever since she started going to bed so late. After father left, she was never the same afterwards.
I rolled over to my side, closing my eyes once again, making the small attempt to drift off.
Two stars,
Three hearts,
One bashful,
One not.Choose one, and you're done.
One is in your grasp,
While the other is far away.Pick wisely, Nova.
I jolted awake, my alarm was blasting its violent annoying ring tone.
Morning had came. The sun had risen. The small rays of it had peaked through my curtain. They woke me up, they reminded me that it was time to get up.
I was soon filled with heavy joy when I noticed my sparkling blue dress hung up on my door. It glistened in the sun rays. Tonight was homecoming night. I leaped out of bed in excitement. Another reason to go to school, so I could get through this day and get to the fun part. Also, I get to spend the night with Cliff. My beautiful boyfriend Cliff.
I opened my closet. The different colors swirled between each and every item. I wondered what I was supposed to wear, on the day of homecoming, what do you wear to school? Something light and casual, or something fancy to represent such a night ahead. It was a mystery.
I threw on a green skin tight sweater and black jeans. According to mother, green had always been my color. Nova didn't look good in green, she never could. But I could, I look better in a lot of things. She's on a lower level, and I have to represent that I'm better.
I race downstairs. Mother is asleep still.
I didn't care, though. All I needed now was to be out the door and to school.
The toast leaped out of the toaster, startling me.
I picked up the piece of toast and set it in my mouth as I ran out the door quickly, not even locking it behind me. Mother would lock it.
"Nova!" Jace yelled out from behind me, how had I gotten here so fast? I turn around, her blonde hair nearly blinded me as the way it reflected off the sun.
I attempted to recollect my thoughts regarding how I got to school and where I was at 20 minutes ago. Had the wind carried me? Or was I the wind? Nova wouldn't do this, stay strong, not for her, for yourself, Nova.
"Jace... hi." I nearly say awkwardly, awaiting to hear her response.
"I'm so excited for homecoming! My dream is coming true!" She shouts, pulling her arms around me and shouting into my ear, nearly killing my hearing. I gently push her off of me, trying not to offend her somehow.
