The following morning, we were all gathered up on a different roof than the one we had jumped off. A Dauntless born gave one gun to each one of us. It was heavy and i had to look at the others to know how to hold it properly. "All the guns are loaded, so try not to shoot anyone", Four said as we lined up in front of targets that were near a wall at the distance.

"Today, you will learn how to shoot with a gun--", Eric said from behind us and i looked at him over my shoulder, "And after that, how to win a fight". He took a gun from a table near him and aimed at one of the targets, "From your performance today, we will start ranking you", he shoot right at the center and i was kind of fascinated by this act. He lowered the gun and he told us to start shooting.

I've never held a gun in my life and the first time i saw guns, even from a small distance, was only when Dauntless would cross the Amity faction for things i didn't want to know. I tried to concentrate on the target. I took a deep breath in and i pulled the trigger. My eyes closed for a split second and when i opened them i saw that the bullet hit the white paper and didn't touch any of the red lines. "Your eyes need to be open next time", Henry said from my right, holding in his laugh. Almost all his bullets were on the center. How could an Erudite transfer be so good?. I guess he could have studied all these things or i was just too bad myself. I tried again and again, but couldn't hit even one line. "Your posture is wrong", a male voice said from behind me and when i realised it was Eric, i pulled the trigger accidentally. The others looked at me with anger and i realised i hit the target of someone else. "Sorry", i said, but i think they didn't even hear me. Eric seemed annoyed. His hand held the gun stopping me from using it again by accident. He leaned forward and i froze, "Your shoulders need to be straight".

"Thank you", within seconds, he left me alone again and with his instruction i tried shooting again and this time i hit near the target. Maybe it was better knowing that i wasn't using this gun against someone, because in that case, i wouldn't make it.

Four and Eric had lead us into our training room, filled with punching bags, targets and other sort of things. Two Dauntless born boys were fighting each other in the ring and all of us were whispering and watching them in a circle. "They are gonna let us fight like that?. Seems deadly", Christina said and i watched as the boy gave a final punch to the other, leaving him unconcious. Some others Dauntless born initiates took him away and left the training room. Eric came forward and raised his voice. "As you saw, the purpose of this is to prepare you to act, prepare your body to respond to threats and challenges".

"Shouldn't you teach us first how to fight?", David asked. "With this way we can see your strength. After that, you will learn some moves and techniques". Me and christina looked at each other, "I can't fight. This was the first time i saw two people fighting", i whispered to her.

"First jumper", i looked back at Eric, his gaze was cold, like he didn't give a damn about choosing me as the first person to fight, my hands were shaking and my heart was out of place. "In the ring", i walked slow, Christina looked worried and so was i. The other initiates came closer. "And Clara". Once i was in the ring, Clara came and i could see a smirk on her face. "Two Amity girls?. This is going to be fun", someone said from the crowd. "No one is gonna win", another one said.

"Time to fight", Eric shouted. I don't know why, but i felt that he should be able to consider that i'm not the strongest one here, but of course this wasn't his responsibility and maybe that's why he chose Clara as my opponent, but then again, why did he know her name and not mine?. "How long do we fight for?", Clara asked with no emotion. She seemed like she was waiting for this moment her whole life.
