"Toji?"

Yuji called out, a mixture of astonishment and trepidation woven into the cadence of his voice. He didn't expect the large man to appear now of all times.

Toji slowly stood up as he retrieved the dagger he had thrown to Eso with a disgusting squelch, then slashed the air to remove the blood that coated his dagger. At that moment, Toji's cold and merciless gaze latched on Yuji's surprised ones.

"...You're lucky I saved your sorry ass, kid." He started, approaching Yuji slowly.

"W-What? Why are you here, Toji?" Yuji asked still trying to process what had just happened, still breathing heavily as he remained cautious of the even greater danger before him.

"Were you following me?" He asked suddenly before he tried piecing things up inside his mind, horror expressed in his face. "No, it can't be... are you the one behind this? Did you kill my friends?"

After hearing the query, Toji only chuckled.

"Isn't that obvious?" Toji spat. "I work alone, and I'm here on a mission. You're really lucky that this guy is my target tonight." He said once again.

"Or else, you could've been the one lying here, dead. Now, Where's my thanks?" The guy demanded but Yuji simply obliged and muttered his thanks.

Toji glanced at his surroundings, making sure that everything was accounted for before he continued, leaning closer to Yuji, and eyeing him up and down. "And to answer your question, kid."

"I'm not interested in your friends, but what's more important is I'm surprised you managed to get out of that predicament in one piece."

"Well, it's because you intervened." Yuji blushed slightly from the other's peering gaze.

"No, not really." Toji pulled back as he said his next words. "You see, Eso- is one of the cursed womb brothers."

"Cursed womb brothers?" The younger man reiterated.

"It's a small group of mafia, but terrifying in their own sense." Toji explained to Yuji, with a generous amount of seriousness laced in his tone. "They are notorious in killing their victims without remorse, and without hesitation."

"And yet, you..." He glanced back at Yuji. "You managed to get out of it with only bruises and scratches. I wonder why."

"..." Yuji remained silent before his thoughts were interrupted when Toji began to speak again as he turned his back to Yuji, heading out.

"You should get out of here, brat." He warned Yuji with a stern voice. "Knowing them, there are bound to be men rushing towards this place as we speak."

But at that moment, Yuji called out to the older man, not wanting to leave him just yet.

"N-No!" He ran and then grabbed Toji's arm. "Wait! Toji!"

Toji stopped in his tracks and earned Yuji a glare from himself. Reminding him that he shouldn't mess with him right now. But Yuji didn't mind it, he needed answers.

"I have so many questions in my mind right now. But only having a few answers." He shared, feeling confused. "What did they want from me?"

Toji raised an eyebrow as he heard this, then closed into Yuji's smaller frame, looking at him straight in his eyes.

"You expect me to answer your questions?" He hissed, every syllable contained malice. "Brat, just so you know I just saved your life."

Yuji flinched visibly as Toji continued to speak. "Besides, if you're looking for answers look somewhere else, I am not that person."
