I fall to my knees. My head hanging low, hair covers my face before I look up and ball my fists around my hair. Pulling it away from my face angrily. My eyes flash up towards the gorgeous castle that once stood tall and proud. Full of life and love, up in flames.
I'm too late. I thought I could warn them before it happened. Hot embers float around the black night sky. The moon shines down putting the thick black clouds that below from the house in a spotlight.
The flames that slither out the windows and roof of the building heating up the air around me by the second. I bring my fist down from my hair and use the back of it to wipe my hot tears harshly.
The girls. Their mother.
There's only one thing that could've happened to them in the blaze.

Bela. The one girl who I swore to always protect and keep by my side. Gone. All because of some riot. A riot started by my very own kind.
At the downfall of mother Miranda the village took it upon themselves to eliminate the lords one by one. Being too scared to face them. They would make plans of doing it when the lords were least expecting it. While they would sleep the villagers would band together and do anything in their power to cause harm to the lords.

The memories come flooding through my mind.

"Cassandra where are we going?" I question looking at the brunette as she tugs my hand. Leading me up the stairs and down a hallway
"I want you to meet my sisters. Just come on"
"You're legs are a lot longer than mine Cas. It's a struggle to keep up with you"
"Just try"
"I am" I whine. Practically jogging after the brunette
"Here" she lets go if my hand and knocks at the door. A few seconds later it swings open "cas, I told you-" the blonde looks down towards me "who are you?"
I stare up at the blonde. My eyes wide. She's gorgeous. I rake my eyes over her face. Taking in her golden eyes and the slight blood running down her chin and across her mouth. It was no surprise that Cassandra's sister would also be coated in blood in some way. Cassandra digs my elbow into my ribs looking down at me with a raised eyebrow
"I'm y/n" I finally speak. Cassandra nods beside me looking between the blonde and I
"Bela" the blonde speaks putting out her hand. I take it and shake it happily
"Nice to meet you Bela" I smile
She flashes me a smile back. I feel my heart beat racing in my ears
"Nice to meet you too little one" she smirks at the red tint in my cheeks. I break eye contact with the blonde and look up at Cassandra who smirks and let's put a small chuckle
"Cassandra. Where did you find your...friend" the blonde questions looking at her sister
"Down at the lake. They were on a walk while I was hunting. I chased a Lycan away when it got too close"
"When was this?" Bela questioning eying me and the brunette suspiciously
"Maybe two months ago or so. I can't remember" I nod along to Cassandra's words not breaking eye contact with the blonde who looks down at me
"Why did it take you so long to introduce us?"
"We all know how you feel about village folk. Wouldn't want you killing my pet"
"I'm not your pet Cas" I speak nudging her playfully
She hums "sorry...my friend"
I nod looking back at the blonde
"You are quite a cute thing. Aren't you?" She questions
"Bela don't hit on them" she sighs glaring at her sister
"It's okay cas" I reassure. My face heating up at belas compliment
"Oh god. Don't fall in love with her" Cassandra mumbles taking my hand and pulling me away from her sister. Leading me down the hall.
"Bye y/n!" Bela yells from behind me. I look over my shoulder. She leans on the wall outside her room. Smiling widely as she waves her hand at me
"Bye Bela" I smile back just before Cassandra pulls me around another corner and the blonde disappears out of my sight
"We're going to see Daniela" she states pulling me further down the hall

My fists collide with the ground over and over. Mud springing up and coating my face and body. I look up at the castle again. One of the roofs give in. Letting out a large crash as it collapses in on itself. The roof being the one in the section of the house where Bela and her sisters room would've been. I couldn't save them.

"It's too cold out there for me y/n"
"It's not My love" I respond giving her a reassuring smile
The blonde looks over at me. Raising an eyebrow at me. A small smile tugs at the corner of her lips at the nickname. Although I've called her the same one a million times it never fails to make her smile
"It's always too cold"
"It's a warm day Bela. The suns out. And you can wear my coat. If it gets too cold I'll be there to bring you back inside myself"
"I can wear your coat?" She questions surprised at the statement
"Yes you can my love"
She smiles fully. Knowing how much I love the coat. I wouldn't usually let another soul lay a finger on it. But Bela is special. She isn't just another soul,
She's my person. Wearing it will calm her nerves
"Okay. Only if I can put on the coat now"
"I'll go grab it for you"
I make my way over to the coat stand near the main entrance of the castle. Having to pull out a chair to stand on to even somewhat reach the top. Alcina (being over 9 feet tall) makes everything ungodly taller than average so she can reach it comfortably. Making a human like myself struggle to even reach the most simple things.
I walk back to Bela. Placing the coat over her shoulders. She smiles. A deep breath exhaled through her perfect lips.
"Now can we take a walk through the garden?" I question rocking back and forth of my heals and toes
"Okay fine. I can never resist your wants. Not when you have such a cute face"
A warmth takes over my cheeks. Colour rushing to them at the comment
"Oh shush" I mumble turning away from her as a smirk tugs at her lips
I open the doors slowly. Feeling Belas anxious gaze against the back of my head
"You're okay. I promise. You're safe with me. I'll always protect you" I turn back to her and tug her down slightly to plant a loving kiss on her cheek. I take her hand in mine and slowly walk down the steps with her. Into the gorgeous garden out the back of the castle.
I let go of Belas hand as we walk. Picking a bright red flower off a nearby bush and pushing it through her hair to sit above her ear. A red tint takes over her face as I cup it
"You're so pretty" I whisper leaning closer to her. Her arms snake around my waist and pull me even closer. Until our fronts flush. She leans down bringing her lips down to mine for a soft kiss.
"Get a room!" Our heads shoot up to towards a window overlooking the garden from the second floor. Cassandra stands next to the open window with a wide smirk across her face as Daniela giggles from beside her
"If you say so!" Bela states back loudly. Tugging at my hand and pulling me back up the stairs and into the house. We ascend the large staircase in the house together and enter into her room. I stand admiring every detail of it. It's so her. She adds little details and items that I find for her at the markets in village. She closes the door behind us before pushing me against the closest wall.

My fist drives further into the dirt. Rocks digging deep into my knuckles.
"Why so angry my love?"
My head shoots up. All the air leaving my lungs. I try gasping for air. I do the best to wipe my muddy hands on my dirt stained shirt. Wiping the mud and blood from my hands before the back of my hand makes it way to try clear the streams of tears coming from my bloodshot eyes. I know that voice anywhere. The one voice is can turn sadness to happiness in a single word.
"Bela?" I glance up. Taking her in from head to toe "what...what?" I spit out. Looking back to the castle then back to her "but...you"
"You think a fire could take me out?" She chuckles. The smirk spreading across her face as her hands sit on her hips
"How...what?" Hot tears start forming in my eyes again "you're...you're not real. You can't be. My minds playing tricks on me" I choke out. Bela is quick to sit down beside me. Pulling my body into hers.
"You're okay lover" she whispers out against my ear "I'm okay. I've got you. I'm here. I'm real love"
I lean against her body. Lifting my hand to her chest to feel her skin. Checking that she's actually there and I'm not just going crazy
"How'd you find me?" I question looking up at her. She cups my hands and pulls them into her lap. Tracing over the cuts that formed from hitting the ground
"I could smell you" she gently lifts my fists. Kissing my knuckles "your blood has a very distinct smell. It's sweet. I thought you were being hurt for how close you are to my family and I. I wanted to come protect you. Turns out you were hurting yourself. I can't let that happen either"
"I thought I lost you" I choke out again. The air still not fully restored to my lungs
"You're never going to lose me" she whispers back. Placing kisses against my forehead.
"The castle-"
"Don't worry about that"
"But-"
"Y/n. What did I say"
"Don't worry about it"
"Good job" she kisses my forehead again "let's go. You're covered in dirt and it's getting cold out here"
She goes to take my coat off her shoulders
"No no. You keep it...but where are we going to go"
"Mother has it all planned out. Don't worry your little head about it"
She smiles and kisses my forehead before helping me off the ground
"Come on. Cassandra's worried about you"
I look up at her and nod. Wrapping a hand around her bicep while my other hand intertwines our fingers
"I love you"
"I love you too pet. Let's get you home"
