A few weeks had passed, and things weren't getting any better. Buttermilk wouldn't rest until they were able to be alone with Nuclear Meltdown, and his children were starting to run out of tears and excuses to get him away. He realized what they were doing and appreciated it, but he knew it couldn't keep going on forever and he would have to face Buttermilk alone, which he didn't want to do. All of this was too overwhelming, too draining, and just too much for him to handle. He needed to get away from everything right now. He needed something to get his mind off everything, somewhere quiet to think, so he went to the only place he knew he could do just that. He made sure no one was watching him so he wouldn't be followed, and he quietly left. It was as cold as always outside, but all the emotions flooding through Nuclear Mltdown's mind made him numb to its freezing touch. He walked for a while until he reached the kingdom garden, where he was able to grow plants that existed nowhere else in the icy tundra. That is the place where his wife's grave was, as she always loved to see how he was somehow able to grow such beautiful flowers in such a frozen wasteland, so she was buried there so he could always be able to give her only the best and most beautiful of all the flowers. He sat there and stared at the grave. He remembered how Buttermilk said that he had been watching him, and he knew it was the same for his lost love. He knew she knew about how he really felt about her daughter and the things he did, and he knew she would never forgive him for any of this. He couldn't blame her; who could? He was as cruel as he could possibly be to her own daughter behind her back without her realizing it, and now she finally knew the truth. Knowing this, he felt sadness and shame pierce through his heart, but most of all, he felt like a complete idiot. He was so blinded by his hatred for Buttermilk and his family that he refused to see that Sugary Yogurt Cookie was innocent and did nothing wrong, and now he has to live with the fact that the love of his life would never forgive him. He continued to sit at the grave, quietly berating himself in his mind about how selfish and stupid he was and how everything that happened was all his fault, until he heard a noise behind him. He was about to look around to check what it was, but before he could, he saw a blue body sit next to him. He immediately recognized that it was Sugary Yogurt Cookie; he hadn't realized she had seen him leave the castle, which he was surprised by because she was of course eating again, just like she had been doing constantly ever since she started living here again, and most of the time she wasn't very secretive about it. Her almost constant eating annoyed him since it was not easy to get food all the way out here. He began to speak, not even turning his head to her.
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "Are you trying to give yourself a heart attack by eating so damn much?"
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "What does it matter to you?"
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "Because if you die, your father will be bothering me about it for months."
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "I'm already dead, jackass."
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "That still doesn't change the fact that you're destroying whatever is left of your pathetic cookie body. I'm honestly surprised you haven't turned into a ghost by now."
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "It wouldn't even matter anyway; my father would just find some way to bring me back."
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "Why the hell did you follow me out here anyway? Do you have nothing better to do but follow me around?"
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "I saw you leave, and I knew you were coming here. I wanted to visit her too, but it's been so long since I've been here that I've forgotten the way."
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "Of course you did."
Both of them sat in silence for a while. They had nothing else to say to each other, so they let each other sit with their own thoughts. It stayed like that for a good few minutes until meltdown heard sobs come from Sugary Yogurt Cookie.
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "The feeling of missing her finally getting to you, huh?"
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "No, it's not it."
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "Then why are you crying?"
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "It's because... It's because I feel like I ruined everything for all of you."
Nuclear Meltdown Cookie: "What are you talking about?"
Sugary Yogurt Cookie: "Are you really that stupid to not understand it? None of this would have happened if I wasn't here. You and Mom had the perfect relationship, the perfect kids, and the perfect life, and the only problem in it was me. If I were just never born, Chernobyl wouldn't have gotten hurt, my friends wouldn't have gotten so sick of me that they would send me here just to get away from me, and Mom would be able to rest peacefully knowing she didn't have a stupid, pathetic excuse for a daughter like me. Ever since this place froze over, my mother helped the cookies that were stuck here like us so they wouldn't freeze to death out here. She was a brilliant leader, and without her, tons of cookies would have died without her help. And what does she have to show for her stupid failure of a daughter who eats like a morbidly obese pig and acts like a 2-year-old. I feel like an idiot, knowing that she had to die just to watch me do this. She'll probably never forgive me for being such a pathetic idiot, but honestly, who could blame her after having a child like me?"
She continued to cry as Nuclear Meltdown watched her, stunned. He never knew that she felt that way about herself or his relationship with her mother. He always thought that she believed that she hated him being around her mother, but he never thought that she would think that their relationship was perfect. Even if that were true, surely she didn't believe that all of this was her fault; it was obviously his, so there's no way it could be her fault. He moved his arm towards her and slowly moved her body to one of his legs, and he let her lay there and cry. Normally, she would have pushed herself off of him, but she was too emotional to care right then, so she continued to sit there and cry. She cried for a long time until she eventually fell asleep. Nuclear Meltdown looked at the sleeping cookie laying on him, realizing something that he hadn't realized before. The more hurt she was, the more she started to look like him. He remembered a time when he looked exactly as she did when he was with her mother. He remembered a time when he used to eat exactly as she does now. He remembered a time when almost everyone in the kingdom grew tired of his childish behavior. She realized he had made her exactly how buttermilk had made him, and for the first time ever, he felt ashamed about it. He decided that it was time for both of them to leave before they were missed, so he picked up the sleeping cookie and carried her back to the castle. Once they arrived, he took her to her room and gently placed her on the bed. He looked down at her, still feeling the shame he felt back at the garden, and he wondered, What if he hadn't done any of this? What if he had actually been nice to her growing up and put aside his hatred of her father so she could have a good life? Maybe then they wouldn't have to be under all this stress, she wouldn't have to be like this, and his children would finally be safe. Something in him made him feel like he wanted to stay in the room with her, but he couldn't do that; they were gone for a while, and his children were probably worried, so he quietly walked out of the room and closed the door, leaving the cookie to sleep while they dealt with the questions he would get about being gone with her for so long.
