The sound of the bell ringing could mean that its either recess time or go home. Well, this one signals the latter one and I am super pumped! Closing my locker door shut, my friend; Marissa bumps onto the locker beside me with a sly smile, making me shaking my head.
Marissa Arnold, daughter of the infamous wine company, Marley Wine. Skin similar to the beach sand, shiny honey-blonde locks and eyes like the morning sky. Her movements sway like a flower being blown by the calm wind yet her personality said otherwise.
"No. I will not do anything with you today, Marissa." I slyly yet strictly said, fasting my pace towards the school entrance.
I heard Marissa whine behind me, convincing me that this one wouldn't be the same as others but I knew better. Every time she makes that stupid smile, the aftermath always ends up as us running away from group of police or bandits; sometimes both.
Suddenly, Fred; my friend. The only sane friend in this trio, came sliding towards us. His eyebrows then raise upon seeing Marissa. Fred quickly took his place beside Marissa's left.
"Marissa, you shouldn't get Dina involved again. You know how Ms. Sophie is! " whisper Fred as he fixes his glasses. His orange-brownish hair swept to the back. Fred could be an FBI agent because of his intelligence but he always says that he prefer non-dramatic life. I can tell from the way he avoids any kind of boyish activities such as fighting for no reason.
Marissa blew her blonde strand hair away.
I chuckle as I remember that time where my mother literally did an UNO reverse card on the police when Marissa and I got caught, saying that this all wouldn't happened if they wipe the bandits away from the Earth's surface.
"Well I wouldn't do such a thing IF my boyfriend didn't get so busy all. the. Damn. time!" Stomp Marissa as she side hugs my arm. Fred slumps his shoulders while I laugh.
Yes, just as no one expected, the prep girl is dating a nerd! Well, its a common stereotype if you read many romance genre but in real life, apparently it isn't. Everybody thought it was Fred who starts but I know for a fact, is Marissa. Marissa and I lives in the same neighbourhood but different road. We've been friends since then. Not too long, we both enrolled the same middle school. There, we met Fred, who wasn't a nerd. He was more a loner. But that change after Marissa befriended him. Since then, the three of us were inseparable, well only the two of them.
Usually before going home, the three of us would hangout till the sunsets. We either go to the nearest ice cream parlor or just sitting on a bench near our school's popular spot, ze fountain! I don't even know why its so popular when it's just water flowing out of the cemented sculpt...but it is what it is.
"Well, that is due to the exams...Anyway, I am free starting today!" Announce Fred as he stood in front of us with his hands on his hips. If this was a cartoon show, Fred's nose would be high in the sky right now. Marissa's oceanic orbs twinkle like stars during clear night sky before clasping her hands together before dragging Fred away.
"Um, guys...where are you going?" I ask confusingly. I thought we were getting ice creams like usual?
Both of their heads turn towards me before sheepishly looking away. Then, it clicks...
"Haih...Just go. You guys make me sick." I exclaim as I wave my hand. Judging from their scurry footsteps, I can tell they are very excited to go on their dates. Gross.
Suddenly, the wind blew, carrying a silent yet mellow feeling deep inside of me. I stare up at the blue calming sky. White clouds were like the lazy plaster of an artist brushes.
Its the beginning of the long arduous holiday. Usually I would be happy yet I don't know why but this time, I feel as if some kind of tragedy will struck upon me. Ugh, negative thoughts..
Shaking my head, I walk down the pavements.
"Its okay. Nothing will ever happen...It's been years since that." I assure myself, hopefully this manifestation or mantra that Marissa had taught can be a use right now.
"Now, I only need some drinks.." I mumble as I turn off my phone.
Upon entering the supermarket, I rummage into the fridge before pulling out a carton of milk and some drinks that have been requested by my brother. After double checking the list and my basket, I breath a relief before queuing at the cashier. Soft songs blaring from the speaker and people muttering from all corners brings me relaxation. But since when did the ground shake so violently?
Suddenly, the back of the supermarket exploded, causing debris to fly everywhere.
People screaming as they run towards safety, which is anywhere but here. I cough violently before examining my basket. Almost all of them caught into the explosion. Grumbling under my breath, I decided to head out too until my foot got stuck by some sticky green liquid. It looks like acid but I don't feel any burn.
Quickly, I hover my hand above the liquid before emitting cold from it. Based on my calculation, if I freeze this liquid then break it, my foot will be free! Before my freedom could happen, I heard a child's laughter and another earthquake but this time, it felt as if someone's been jumping around. Shrugging off, my hands continue its job before something just hastily run past by me, causing me to cough again...
"What in the..." I watch into the distance where it went. Seeing as if there's no one's here, I smash the froze-liquid roughly, causing my foot to be free atlas.
Hastily, I escaped. That was the worse supermarket experience ever.
Checking my surroundings, I exhale a breath. I'm nearing my home. What a relief. All of a sudden, my legs gave out, making me fell. At the same time, my knees got scraped by the cement pavement. Tears began to drip down as I push myself up.
"Curse them! CURSE. ALL. OF. THEM!!" I scream before limping towards my home, where HOPEFULLY I am safe!
.
"Ou! OUCH!" I wince as my mother dabs the alcohol on my knees.
As if the God have pity me, He lets me go home safe and sound. But that didn't cause an uproar inside the house. Opening the door, Mother instantly drop whatever she was holding and rush to my aid. My brother who was excited to see me turn into horrid looking at my state. Thank goodness, Father isn't home yet or else he might get the media to come into our house. Ha ha...
"How can this happen?!" Mother ask worriedly before doing some final touches.
Admiring the bandages, I start to tell her the explosion and etc. I can quickly tell she wouldn't let me go to the supermarket again...
"Oh my..." gasp Mother. She then told me to get rest. A lot! I nod my head before limping towards the stairs. As I twist my doorknob, my brother came running towards me with tears dare to fall.
"Sister! I'm sorryyyy"
My response? I laugh. Reynold look at me like I have gone crazy. He must have thought the accident causes my head to go haywire. I pat his head after wiping the tears away.
"Aw, someone's worried. I'm fine, Reynold. When I'm fully heal, I play with you, yeah?"I smile when he nods his head. He still sniffles but at least his crying died down.
Closing my door, I heave a sigh. Walking towards my bed, I laid there. My head spins with the fact that I had use my powers in public!
"It's okay. The CCTV must have been damaged due to the debris, in conclusion, no one will saw what happen. A-And I am just a normal teenage girl that happens to be In the scene! Yes...yes...Let's sleep.."
Dragging the duvets, I covered myself before shutting my eyes.
'I am safe...'
