"Kansas," She whispered as she closed her eyes. Bradley turned over to look at her.

"Yeah," He paused. "What about it?"

Lily pulled out her sunglasses and put them on. She had to slightly adjust them to make sure they sat right on her snout.

"It's odd how a place I've seen a million times before can still be so.. hm, beautiful."

Bradley looked up at the rolling clouds. A developing thunderstorm was in the distance, but it would be another hour or so before it arrived.

"I guess so. Growing up in Iowa was boring as a kid. Y'know with nothing better to do and all, but as an adult living in the big city." He closed his eyes. "It calls me back, and I just never want to go back home."

Lily smiled as she suddenly stood up. Bradley raised his eyebrow.

"Hey, where ya going?" Bradley asked, but there was no answer as Lily started pacing towards a lone oak tree.

"Lily?" Bradley called out as he quickly caught up to her. Lily put her back against the tree and slumped to the dirt. Bradley gave her a look. Something of an "are you ok?" glare.

"I'm fine. The suns too bright. Thats all," Lily giggled a bit.

"The clouds aren't doing their job!" She hollered playfully. Bradley smiled as he sat next to her. He looked out into the empty field that seamed to stretch for miles with the occasional few trees of course. Some farm equipment, and few black dots that should represent wandering buffalo. Bradley appreciated the scenery that came as a perk when he went on trips with Lily. Most of the time it was driving towards endless clouds, thunderstorms, and the rare but breathtaking tornado. But the times where they would just stop and enjoy the scenery were the most memorable moments. Well, besides the tornadoes.

"I uh.. wanted to ask you something," Bradley stated. He looked forward with a somewhat worried look. Lily looked towards him curiously.

"Sure what's up?"

Bradley shut his eyes and leaned his head back.

"When you were..." He paused and sighed as he gulped down his own emotions. "I wanted to get married eventually. I know it probably wouldn't have happened, but I always dreamed and... I still do," He said shakily as his voice started to crack. Lily dug her clawed talon into the dirt.

"Yeah, I would've," She took a deep breath. "We were close, and I really wanted it. I'm sorry I didn't stick around long enough heh heh," Lily chuckled as she leaned onto Bradley's shoulder.

"But you're working out something new just fine right?" Lily asked trying to build up Brad's hope. "I'll be rooting for you Bradley!"

"I miss you," Bradley cupped one of his hands across his eyes. "I miss you so much."

Lily's smile started to fade.

"Brad?" She rested her snout on his lap. He started to sniffle and sob as he leaned down onto Lily's back.

"I don't know if I can do this. I don't know if I can go on without you."

Lily cropped up and planted a kiss on his cheek. Bradley started to break down as he embraced her into his arms. Tears rolled down his cheeks and onto Lily's back.

"I failed you. I couldn't save you. I want you back so desperately. I need you Lily, I need you." Bradley started to hyperventilate as Lily's hug tightened.

"I love you Brad," Lily hushed. "I will always be with you, and you know that. I promise."

Bradley pulled back and stared back into her amber eyes. He slowly started to nod as he swallowed the last of his mourning. Lily rubbed his cheek and hushed his faint sobs.

"Live for me. I want you to live for me. Can you do that?" Lily asked as she smiled back at him. Bradley leaned into a deep kiss with Lily cupping her cheeks as they shared their last intimate moment.

"I won't give up," Bradley stated. "I will never forget you. You will be with me always, right?"

Lily nodded as she leaned back into the tree. Bradley ran his hands down her sides before he stood up. Everything started to fade. The sky, the grass, the tree, her body. When all else disappeared, her smile was all that remained.

Then it was gone.

"Thank you for everything. I love you."
