Act 8 - Flood Channel

September 15, 1943 - 11:26pm
Later that night it was raining heavily, all I did was think about the case.  I return to the warehouse in search of something, anything, I knew I had to have missed something. It was pouring rain, the river was quickly getting higher, one of the worst storms in years. I make my way inside the run down old warehouse again, strangely the lights were on, well at least what lights still worked, however it was still very dark so I still couldn't see much. I looked around for a few minutes with no luck but suddenly I heard the whistling sound of air blowing threw a small crack, I investigate it and find an old hatch. I struggle to life it up but manage to open it, it was dark in there so get out my lighter and used it, it wasn't much light but it would do. Climbing down I feel cold air and the floor had water almost to my knees, I begin to follow to tunnel, must be an old flood channel to redirect excess rain. A little ways down I hear the sound of crying so I follow it to find a small cage like area of the floor channel, I look inside and see a child "William, is that you!?" I say to the boy "h...how do you know my name? Who are you?" he says, the water combining with his tears " I'm Rosie Gardens, your parents hired me to find you." I answer "M...my parents, your here to help me!" he exclaimed "Yes, so lets get you out of here" I pull at the gate but it is locked tight, I pull my pistol from its holster "Cover your ears William, this is going to be very loud." I took aim on the lock knowing I could not cover my own ears, Once William is ready I squeeze the trigger and fire one shot at the lock. The loud sound echos threw the flood channel, my ears ring and I see stars, I reach over and pull off the busted lock and open the gate as I grab Williams hand and take him to the surface.
