I awoke to see Childe asleep, laying sprawled out beside me. I look around the sunlit room, rays of light dancing across his sleeping face. His shirtless sleeping figure was peaceful, and i arose carefully out of bed to try and not wake him. I rubbed my face, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. I heard a knock on the door, looking back at childe to see him still asleep. It wasn't unusual, I got a lot of company throughout the day and it was the afternoon. Wait it was the afternoon already? Shit, i hope childe didn't have anything to do today. I opened the door to see Zhongli, a reoccurring visitor at my house.
"Zhongli? How nice it is to see you, what caused you to come here?" I instantly switched to my work voice, seeing as i wasn't too comfortable with Zhongli yet. We had made it past acquaintances to friends, but we weren't good friends.
POV CHHANGE, 3RD"I just wanted to stop by for a visit. You hadn't come to see me at the tea parlor and I wanted to know if you were all right." He said with a small smile, trying to discreetly look Y/n up and down. Zhongli had never seen Y/n in such casual clothes.
"Why of course I am glad you decided to check on me. Why don't you come inside? You know where the kitchen is." Y/n said, stepping to the side to let him in.
"I will be right back." Y/n said, walking down the hall back to his room, seeing Childe still asleep.
"oh crap i forgot about him... he'll be fine." He walked into his closet, grabbing a more work casual shirt. He didn't want to make Zhongli think he was too formal in the comfort of his home. He grabbed some pants, putting on his jewelry and visions once more.
He froze, noticing Childe shift in the bed, sighing in relief as he didn't wake. He walked back to the kitchen, to see Zhongli preparing the tea. They had done this countless times at each of their homes, usually with Childe present."Do you know where Childe is? One of the members of Northland Bank asked me earlier. She didn't seem too worried, he probably just slept in."
Y/n didn't know how to respond.
"Ahah, no I haven't. I'm sure he'll come around soon. He is a heavy sleeper." Zhongli looked at him for a second."Yeah... he is." He said back. Y/n heard footsteps in the hallway, and froze. He looked up and it was too late, Childe was in the hallway. Zhongli turned, a shocked look on his face upon seeing Childe, shirtless and sleepy coming from my bedroom. Childes eyes widened when he saw Zhongli.
"Oh, hey Zhongli." He said shortly, coming over to sit at the table.IM CHANGING POVS AGAIN I CANT KEEP UP 3RD LMAO CAUSE IM SLOW
"Never mind then, I guess we know where he went know don't we?" Zhongli said back even shorter. They both glared at each other, tea cups in their hands. After the very tense visit from Zhongli, he left, saying goodbye quickly. As if cleaned up Childe came behind me.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and put his head into the side of my neck. He had gotten very... touchy... lately. Not that i was complaining."I think you gave Zhongli the wrong idea. He probably thinks we are sleeping together." I said, still finishing up the dishes with my limited movement.
"Aren't we?" Childe let out a deep chuckle, his voice a little raspy. That was kind of hot. I could feel myself blush a little as he signed, his hot breath against my neck.
"Not like that jackass." I laughed.Flashback, 7 years ago.
I ran through the forest, my heavy backpack behind me. My visions clanked together as I ran, making me louder. People yelled after me, chasing me over fallen trees and puddles of water. I ran out of the forest into a clearing, tears pricking at my eyes. I panted, looking around. I ducked into it, successfully hiding myself from my pursuers, Jashek and his workers. Why, why was he doing this? He was always so kind to me until i got my visions. He used me for them. But why does he still need me? I've done all he asked? I quickly crawled forward, trying to get away. I made it out of the field, a lake infront of me. How do i get away? The water surged, waving back and forth. That was weird, wasn't this a lake? The water seemed to grab me and pull me in, as if struggled upwards, trying to breath. But... i could breath perfectly fine? A bubble of air around my head made it easy to see and breath. The men seemed to lose me, and i swam to the other side of the smallish lake. I got up into the shore, placing my wet bag of clothes on the dirt.
"Looked like you needed a hand there." I turned around quickly with my spear to see a ginger haired boy, a hydro vision at his side."Woah hey i just saved you!" He said, jumping back with his hands in the air.
I looked at him, sighing and i set the spear down.
"Sorry. Just a little tense right now."
I said, grabbing my soaking wet pack. I opened it, dumping some water out of it. He chuckled nervously.
"I can help with that. I've got a hydro vision." He said, pointing at it. What are you going to do, put more water on it?" I chuckled."No, just trust me!" He said, pointing his hand at me and the bag. Water droplets started to pull from the bag and my clothes, slowly soaking all the moisture from them. The water balled up, dumping back into the lake.
(I don't know if he can really do this leave me alone.)
"That was... pretty neat actually." I said, trying not to look to excited as to how freaking cool that was.
"I know right?"
"So why were you running?" He asked, his arms crossed.
I swallowed back some spit, trying to think of whether to tell him the truth or not. It wouldn't harm anything.
"That was Jashek and his goons, my guardian. Jashek took care of me ever since, um- well he took care of me and he was really kind but... ever since i got my vision he got colder and sent me on odd jobs. He used my visions through me to get money. The money was supposed to make up for the sheer fact he disliked me. So i ran away. I didn't think i would even make it out and now i don't know what to do." I said, sitting on a rock and grabbing my head. The moment of silence passed between us, my soft sniffles could be heard next to the ripples of water.
PRESENT DAY. (Fontaine archon quest spoilers, summary at end.)
Childe gathered his things, heading back to work for the rest of the day hoping to make up what he missed. My only goal for the day was to go to Fontaine. As i teleported to the statue of the seven in the city, I headed down to the Justice building. I had to say hi to my good friend Neuvillette. Before Jashek and I moved to Sumeru, we were originally from Fontaine. I moved to Liyue to get away from him. I ran from Sumeru city all the way to Minlin area of Liyue, trying to escape. They finally gave up once they lost my trail. I haven't heard from them since. Neuvillette was a kind man I had met on a job for Jashek. He mentored me in the time I lived there, as I was interested in the law practice. I would meet with him so he could teach me everyday in secret because Jashek was weird about people knowing about me. As i walked into the building, the muresines (did i spell that right?) welcomed me. I walked to the main guard, stopping before the short girl.
"Hello, is sir Neuvillette busy perhaps?" I asked kindly, using my work voice to talk. She shook her head, a little scowl on her face. She was always a tough talker.
"No im afraid not. He is in a business meeting right now and shouldn't have any disturbances." She said, crossing her arms."Well, can you please alert him of my presence?" I asked, again in a sweet tone though my patience was running thin.
"And i'm supposed to know exactly who you are?" She asked, her annoying little voice blunt and rude.
"Maybe since I've been here so many times."
I whispered under my breath, a small scowl appearing on my face."What was that?" She asked, leaning up on her tip toes to get in my face.
"Nothing. I'm Y/n L/n." I responded again sweetly.
"Oh i know who you are. You were that kid that came in every day." She said, a sadistic little smirk on her face.
God she was insufferable.I sat on a chair at a table, flipping open a book to read. After about ten minutes, the doors to Neuvillettes office slammed open and two women and a small flying thing walked out. (or flew out too i guess). The tall fancy blonde female seemed upset, strutting out in a very quick manner, the other blonde girl behind her. Wait, that was, the traveler? What did she want with Neuvillette? I watched through the window as they walked out, seeing it had begun to rain. According to the children of Fontaine, that meant the Hydro Dragon was crying. A little boy ran into the street, yelling up at the sky.
"Hydro dragon, Hydro dragon, don't cry!" He yelled, flailing his arms beside him. I stood, walking to the door. What a silly tale. Walking to the door, I opened it, quietly slipping in and closing it behind me.
"Sir Nuevillette? I have come off of buisness, and I have brought you some treats as well." I said, waking to his desk. He faced the window behind him, quickly swiping at his face. Small sniffles could be heard as he turned to face me with a smile."Ah, Y/n. It is always a pleasure to see you."
