TW: suicidal thoughts

It was a nice sunny day and Gon and Killua were sitting outside on the grass, playing on Killua's Nintendo Lite.

Ever since three weeks ago when Killua finally met with Gon, the boys have been hanging out nonstop, and grew very close, then just hearing each other behind a screen, and they couldn't be happier.

"Do you always bring your Nintendo to school?" Gon turned over to his side and smirked at Killua "I know what you're gonna say. You're gonna say I have a gaming addiction, well I don't, you sound like my mother" Killua suddenly snapped at Gon, but in a jokey manner. "I wasn't gonna say that, I think it's kinda cool, but won't you get told off?" Gon says, "this is college Gon not high school, they've got different rules" Killua adds, and Gon hums in response.

"Guys, guys, guys!" A new voice appeared and it belonged to Zushi, who was running up to them at full speed, waving paper around in his hands.

He came to a stop and put his hands on his knees, panting, trying to get his breathing back.

"Spit it out Casanova" Killua said with a bored expression and a sarcastic tone. "First of all; rude, secondly you guys are invited to this girl named Retz's party! You know after the football game!" Zushi said.

"Retz? You mean that new girl? That joined the same time as Gon? And she's already throwing a party?" Killua scoffed and went back to his game.

"She's literally inviting everyone! You guys should come I don't wanna be alone!" Zushi pleaded.

"Yeah no thanks, what about you Gon?" When Killua turned around, he saw a side of Gon that he never saw before.

His face was as pale like he just saw a ghost. His eyes were widened and was shaking uncontrollably.

"Gon" Killua said with concern and shook Gon's shoulder. Gon snapped out of his daze and looked at Killua "I-I'm sorry what did you say?" Gon stutter, "man you ok dude?" Zushi asked "kinda, I mean I'm just gonna say this, I knew Retz before and let's just say.....she wasn't very nice to me" Gon says, Killua pulled a frown "was she a bully?" "I'll tell you later , ok? Just not now" Gon waved him off. "Well ok since you guys aren't going then I can go with someone else" Zushi said, the other two boys nodded and Zushi went back to the building.

"You never told me about Retz..." Killua spoke up, Gon shuddered at the name, he fiddled with his fingers, "if I tell you about Retz, can you tell me about your family?"
Killua was stunned but went along with it anyway.

~3 years ago~ (A/N: I picked random names for the parents and their last name)

Mito was very friendly with their new neighbours the Ross Family. Elizabeth and Nathaniel with their two kids, Retz and Omokage.

The Ross family moved here to have a fresh start, ever since their oldest son, Omokage sadly passed away due to an accident with some kids at the school.

Then when Mito finally introduced Gon to Retz. Everything went down hill.

Retz and Gon started off as good friends, but then gradually something changed in Retz, or rather she was letting her true nature show. She developed romantic feelings for Gon, and Gon thought he did as well, but Retz started getting more abusive, mentally abusive.

"No one will ever like you, you see! That's why I'm with you, because I simply pity you"

"What's that supposed to mean?! I thought you love me!?" Gon cried.

Gon could go on and on about the many things Retz has said to him during their 5 month relationship. It got so bad, that it was now mentally scarring for Gon, his self-esteem dropped, so did his confidence. He started going into a depression cycle, and having suicidal thoughts but never really committed anything.

Gon decided he had enough, he never told Aunt Mito what Retz was doing to him, because Elizabeth and Mito were close friends, and didn't wanna ruin their friendship over some sappy romance life, probably wasn't even romance. About the beginning of the new year, Gon told Retz he wanted to break up with her, almost getting a slap in the face, luckily Mito heard the fighting from downstairs, when she saw the blonde girl about to hit her nephew and demanded them to get out the house, and Retz was never to be seen again. Until now.

~present~

Killua pulled Gon into a hug, once he finished his story and saw the poor boy cry. "Oh Gon...I had no idea I'm so sorry" Killua said, with his voice full of worry "it's ok Killua, I just never told you" Gon sniffed, his nose was blocked from all the crying. The bell rang meaning it was home time, the two boys headed towards the gate.

"Next time I will tell you a bit more about myself ok Gon? I won't let her near you I promise" Killua lifted Gon's chin so now Gon is staring into Killua's eyes. Gon nodded slowly with a tiny smile, "ok thanks. I'm really glad I met you Killua" he said, Killua blushed a little, "yeah yeah, me too you peabrain" Killua flicked Gon's forehead playfully, Gon giggled "see you tomorrow" he said and turned his heel and walked the opposite direction to his house.
