Syler

The spotlights felt hotter as the show went on. Sweat was pooled down Syler's back and her insides felt like coiled branches of toxicity. Every spin, every step, every breath felt laborious as her head muddled in the lights and colors and movement of the crowd.

But, it was going to be okay. There were only two songs left, and she was fairly confident no one could tell she felt horribly sick. Two songs to get through. And Trace was in the back watching her, which gave her a strange amount of energy. She found herself wanting to impress him. Especially in the sexy number she knew he liked so much. Yes, she thought about him. Since meeting him, she only ever thought about him. Not just during this performance.

A giddiness spread through her, partly swathing the aches and cramps pulling her body down. She did a body roll, gliding her hand down her sparkly black bodysuit and barely touching herself before she swiftly turned and began a new series of dance moves. That was for Trace. He was watching. She knew he was. When she whipped her head around, her vision kept going, darkening at the edges. It felt like her brain was rebelling, her body failing.

Then, she was falling, stuck in the grips of a vertigo spell. In front of seventy thousand people, her head smacked against the ground.

Lights out.

★★★

There was a vague awareness that arms were wrapping around her body. Being lifted into the air, and carried away. She cuddled herself into them, wishing it were Trace until she heard one deep, raspy breath.

"Syler," it called. It didn't hold that same playful gentleness that Trace's did. And in the next sentence, fearful confusion flooded her system as she distinctly heard Madds Hule hum, "You're mine."
