The Dragon's Assassin, Secret's of the Eclipse.

"The beginning of an end..."

It was a hot day and the field was covered in green, yellow and red and the sound of swords and awful roars echoed through the field as the jaws from the dragons gnashed through the hot air and the sound of bones crunching through the bodies that came rushing towards them.

"Maya!" Kala's voice echoed as her sword slid through the ankle of the dragon she was fighting, it didn't go all the way through as he sword hit the bone of the animal as it screeched.

Maya took Kala's hint she spun around to see a dragon coming down on top of her to take a bite.

Maya fell to the ground as she rolled to the left, slicing her sword into the ankle of the beast, another siren had taken a swing at his left foot, the dragon lifted it's head as the sound of electrical sparks echoed through it's mouth as he spurt out fire, lowering his head to target Maya and the siren behind him.

Both Maya and the siren had run underneath the belly of the dragon just on time to confuse it.

"Maya!" Maya turned around to see that the other siren was Emerald, without hesitation Emarald lifted her sword, turning around to stab it through the rob cage of the beast, tearing her sword down to the belly as blood drenched the both of them.

Emerald grabbed Maya by the hand and ran out and away from the dragon as his limp body fell to the ground.

"Maya, you need to get to Deltora!" Emerald shouted, Maya looked over the battle to see Deltora busy, killing a hundred sirens in a single breath, Maya felt terrified, he couldn't take him on? he was huge and powerful. "Once Deltora dies, all the dragon's will stop attacking. they are like a hive!" Emerald shouted over the screaming and shouting. "take this" Emerald said grabbing Maya's hand's with both of her hands as the aurora around her body turned from bright yellow to orange, almost as if hr life force was being drained out of her body like water, absorbing into Maya's hand.

"What is it?" Maya shouted back.

"It's my power, hopefully it will help" Emerald said, letting go of Maya's hand abruptly and running back into battle, Maya looked up to see Deltora fighting in the distance, she was nervous to meet him face to face, not knowing what he would do to her, Maya felt like she already knew what was going to happen 'he's going to chomp down on me in one go' she thought. 'but I have to do this'

Maya charge straight back into the battle field, her body covered in blood, bruises and wounds, lifting her sword up from time to time, using the power of water to put out the fire from the beast before it could ignite the trees and grass around it, and drowning it by using the water as a bubble around it's head.

Suddenly Maya was pinned to the ground by the talons of the dragon, as it's head came swinging down, only for it's lower jaw to be chopped of by the sword of another siren, Maya looked up to see Lazarus.

Lazarus's eyes went big when he realised who he had saved.

"Maya, you shouldn't be here!" Lazarus said, acting defensive and protective over Maya as she stood up, the dragon that Laz had attacked had flown off.

"This is my battle too!" Maya shouted over the screaming, Lazarus shook his head as he took a step towards her, gently grabbing Maya's hand, Lazarus lifted up his head in shock, the look on his face was as if someone had stabbed him through the back, but Laz had sensed something about Maya that he never felt before.

"How did you...?" Lazarus said with shock in his eyes.

"We meet again" A loud voice boomed from behind Maya, she felt stuck to the ground below her, the voice of Deltora chilled her down to her bones sending goosebumps down her back, slowly Maya turned her head, then her shoulders until she could move her whole body around to meet Deltora face to face..

"This is definitely going to be fun" Deltora smirked.

"Maya" Laz called out to her, he didn't want her to go after Deltora, Laz tried to reach for Maya's hand again as she could feel his finger tips on her wrist, she snatched her wrist away from Laz frowning as she turned back around.

"What are you doing?" Maya said confused, but she really wasn't confused, Maya knew that if she showed any affection to Laz that Deltora would know her weakness, how ever Laz didn't understand it, he looked back at Maya, feeling confused and rejected.

Maya turned around to meet Deltora face to face once again as she felt Laz disappear from behind.

"Deja vu?" Deltora hissed, Maya looked at him confused before realising what he was talking about.

"Actually no" Maya hissed back. "Because I am not Mera, I am much more than that" Maya curled her finger tips towards the ground, it had been raining the night before so Maya figured that the ground still had water absorbed into the dirt bellow her, she lifted up her arms, slightly bent, focusing all of here power into every singled drop as the water began to lift from the ground as if it was raining in reverse, but reverse-falling in slow motion.

"Neat trick" Deltora scoffed as he took a step back, lowering his head and pointing his open jaws towards the ground as the sound of sparks trying to ignite a flame echoed deep inside his throat, quickly Maya swung both of her hands up above her head forming a cup shape with her palms as the water rushed up forming it's self into a large ball of water that was larger than Deltora himself, Deltora lifted his head aiming his hot flames towards Maya as the ball of water came down, colliding with Deltora's flame's, Maya screamed as she pushed every ounce of power into her palms, Maya squeezed her eyes shut shaking her head to the side pushing off the weird feeling that radiated through her body, it felt different and instead of draining energy it was giving energy.

The feeling continued to rage through her body as she gave in, her eyes snapped open as they glowed a pale white and faded light blue, her scales began to burn through her skin on her arms, face, neck and chest as she pushed harder, all the dragon's and siren's stopped fighting to watch the great battle between Deltora and Maya.

"It's true..." A siren muttered in the ground as they all exchanged looks, Deltora's breath was almost out of flames, Deltora gave one big pulse to send Maya flying, but Maya had done the same, sending a pulse of water towards Deltora sending him flying back.

All the trees had been singed from the flames as Deltora's body was speared with a tree stump, Maya had been sent flying back as her head hit the rock behind her cracking her head open, blood began to pour out slowly staining the rock underneath her.

"No, no!" Lazarus screamed running to Maya's side, he crouched down and lifted her lifeless body in his hands. "wake up, Maya you have to wake up" Lazarus sobbed, suddenly the sound of a tortured scream ripped through the air as Kala had seen what had happened to Maya as she ran up to her.

"Mum" she sobbed. "Mama, no...please" Lazarus took a step aside with his hands running through his hair as Kala took her turn sobbing over Maya's body, she had lost her father to a great war and he little sister was taken away, and now her mother.

Kala let out another horrible scream before she got up.

"All of you are just sad and pathetic!" She screamed as she turned around to see the crowd looking back at her. "All of you!" she screamed ever louder. "I lost my father, my sister and now my mother all because of violence and war, when will you all learn that fighting doesn't resolve anything!" all the sirens and gree wolves exchanged looks as the dragon's laid in the grass to catch their breath.

"This war is only causing misery and grief, haven't you all grieved enough? you all have someone you want to protect but I'm nineteen years old with no family because of this damn violence of yours!" Lazarus took a step forwards to grab Kala's wrist to calm her down.

"No, don't!" Kala snapped at Lazarus. "You don't understand, you never lost anyone close to you, you don't know what it's like to be nineteen and having no family!" she repeated herself as she spun around towards the woods.

"Kala wait!" Lazarus called after her, but she had already taken off and ran far and deep into the woods.
