Rupert had been avoiding Jenny for a few days now after finding out that she had been lying to him and the rest of the gang. He couldn't believe that she would do such as to lie about her name, lie about everything. Sure, Rupert had secrets of his own but he wouldn't go as far as to lie to his girlfriend about who he was or why he was there. Rupert felt hurt, he loved Jenny, more than anything, but when she did this he wasn't sure if he could forgive her.
Jenny never meant to hurt Rupert, she never meant to hurt anyone. When Jenny moved to Sunnydale her plan was to do as she was told: keep an eye on Angel, make sure he doesn't get true happiness, make sure his soul was still intact and that he suffers for killing her people. Everything was going according to plan or at least she thought. She knew Angel and Buffy were together but she never knew that they'd sleep together. It only took that one night to break the curse, for Angel to loose his soul and go back to killing. Jenny had failed, she hadn't just failed her people but she failed herself, she failed the man that she loved, the man she never thought she'd fall in love with.
With Angelus loose no one was safe anymore, especially Buffy. Buffy was now his main target, not just because she was the slayer but because Angel loved her.
Jenny had lost everything she had left, what family she had left and her Boyfriend whom she'd just gotten back together with after their last fall out. Jenny was broken. She couldn't stand Rupert ignoring her, she couldn't stand Buffy being angry with her but she didn't blame them. She had made a mistake, a mistake she wasn't sure she could fix but she had to if she wanted Rupert back. She'd been working late for the past three days to find a way to re-ensoul Angelus. She thought if she did find a way to fix her mistake she could earn back Rupert's trust.
Rupert had been trying to comfort Buffy, he tried to tell her that it wasn't her fault and that she didn't know this would happen but she just kept blaming herself.
After Buffy, Xander, and Willow had all gone home for the night Rupert decided that he would check in on Jenny. Though he still felt betrayed by her he did love her.
Rupert walked down to the computer science classroom and peeked in through the cracked door. He hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door.
"Come in," Jenny said after quickly opening up another tab and looking up from the computer screen to see who was at her door at this hour. It was 9:32 and she hadn't expected to see anyone.
Rupert slowly opened the door, his head was facing down towards the floor, too nervous to make eye contact with her. He wore a light gray button up dress shirt, a gray tie with red polka dots, black dress pants with his usual brown tweed coat.
"Rupert," she said softly, surprised but happy to see him. "What are you doing here late?"
He slowly lifted his head up to make eye contact with her. "I- I wanted to check in on ha- how you were," he stammered.
She smiled slightly at him. She always thought it was cute when he stammered. "I'm fine Rupert, just working late," she replied softly.
He moved closer to her sitting on the edge of her desk like she would do when she would walk into the library or his office while he was researching some kind of demon or what the next thing that was going to attempt to destroy the world. He gave her a soft smile.
Jenny watched him for a moment before speaking. "Buffy and I spoke today."
He sat up straight. "Y- you did?" He asked stammering yet again.
"She said you missed me," she told him trying her best to keep eye contact with him.
"Well, Buffy- she can read me like a book," he said softly looking down at the floor.
"I've missed you too Rupert," she admitted.
He looked back at her smiling.
She smiled back at him. She knew that smile was one that was specially for her only. That was the smile he had when she'd walk into his office when he was working late, the smile he had each time he saw her, the smile he had when she'd say something that he thought was cute.
"I just wanted to make sure you were alright after everything," he said.
"I'm fine Rupert," she assured him.
"I suppose I should go then," he said sadly before get off of the desk and walking towards the door.
She watched him for a moment, she looked as if she where about to cry. "Rupert wait."
He paused for a moment and turned to face her.
"Do you have to go?" She asked him shyly.
He looked at her for a moment before answering her. "I don't suppose so."
She got up from her chair and walked over to him. "I'm sorry Rupert, for everything."
He watched a tear roll down her cheek and moved closer to her whipping the tear away with his thumb.
She buried her face into his shoulder as she began to cry.
He moved his hand to her back and began rubbing her back in an effort to calm her.
"Im sorry," she said again sobbing.
"It's okay," he said softly as he continued rubbing her back.
"It's not," she continued sobbing. "I lied to you, I made a mistake and now I can't fix it."
"It is," he assured her. "I've made mistakes too, we all do. We all make mistakes and we learn from them. No one is perfect Jenny but in my eyes you are the closest thing to perfection there can possibly be. You're everything to me."
She smiled through her tears and looked up at him.
He moved his hand from her back and whipped her tears away with his thumb.
"I love you Rupert," she said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
He smiled and kissed her back. "I love you too Jenny."
She rested her chin on his shoulder. "Rupert?"
"Yes?" He replied softly.
She lifted her head and looked up at him. "If the world was ending you'd come over right?" She asked him.
He smiled at her before answering her question. "I believe you already know the answer to that love," he replied softly.
She smiled and kissed him.
He kissed her back pulling her closer.
