This can't be happening. It's very rare to be in a situation where your crush likes you back.

But then I realized, what's the point if I'm going to get married.

My voice tinged with hesitation. "It's true that I have a crush on you and I'm  also happy you feel the same way,but isn't this going too fast? I think… I'll need some time."

Confusion flickered across Ethan's face. "Time? Time for what?" he asked, his brows furrowing.

"It's just... I've been feeling overwhelmed lately, and I need to sort things out on my own," I  replied.

"Kayla, you know I'll be here for you, right?" he said gently, reaching out to touch my arm.

"We can work through whatever you're going through together."

"I appreciate that, Ethan. It's just... I need some space right now. Please understand."

Ethan sighed, his disappointment evident.

"Alright, Kayla. If that's what you need, I'll respect it. Just know that I'll be here for you whenever you're ready."

I told Laura and Zayn the situation and they advised me to try and stay away from Ethan because that would help me from getting hurt.

The final bell rang, the second time my dad came for me.

This time around Nolan was with him sitting in the passenger seat.

I knew I made a huge mistake not informing him. He looked like he had a lot to say but my father's presence ceased the chance.

I sat still in the car thinking of how my was going to be when in a blink of an eye, we'd finally reached and the world felt like it had ended.

My dad hurriedly got out of the car and went ahead of us.

"I'm not mad at you, if you think I am." He finally spoke.

"I'm sorry." I couldn't hold in my tears anymore so I let it out freely and he held me close to his chest.

"You shouldn't be, luckily these people are good, if not for that I would have not allowed it."

I pulled away from the long hug, cleared the tears that was left under my eyes and gave out a soft smile which faded in a second.

"You should go in,I'll probably stay here. And call me if anything happens."He smiled.

The door opened behind us and it was a handsome young man about Devon's age. He glanced at Nolan and smiled.

He trailed his eyes back to me.

" Please follow me."he spoke softly.

I opened the door and turned to look at Nolan for the last time before closing it.

"I'm Lorenzo, a friend of Devon." He smiled at me.

" I'll show you around later but then I'll lead you to your room first."

I nodded.

Imagine walking into a room that feels like a cozy sanctuary. Soft sunlight streams through the window, casting a warm glow on the pastel-colored walls.

The room is filled with plush furniture and fluffy pillows, inviting you to sink in and relax. Delicate curtains dance in the gentle breeze, creating a serene atmosphere.

"It was specially made for you by Devon." He said.

"Great design… speaking of Devon where is he?" I asked him.

" He's in his office, doing a little work."

After showing me our room, he also showed me around and introduced me to the maids and servants there as well as the gang men.

My dad finally came out of Mr. Alessandro's office and gave me his last good bye.

It was finally dinner time and I'd not seen Devon yet.

My heart raced as I entered the grand dining room, where Mr. and Mrs. Alessandro, awaited me.

As I  took my seat at the elegant table with varieties of delicious cuisine on it, Mr. Alessandro, with a stern gaze, spoke first.

"Kayla, it's a pleasure to meet you again."

" You are very beautiful in person." Mrs Alessandro smiled.

"Kayla  we're excited to have you as part of our family." Mrs Alessandro chimed in with a warm smile.

"Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Alessandro. I've heard so much about both of you as well."

Mrs. Alessandro's smile softened. "We believe in giving love a chance to grow. Take your time, Kayla. Get to know our son. True connections cannot be rushed."

I exchanged smiles with her. Having Mrs Alessandro made me miss my mom so badly.

As the evening progressed, the conversation flowed, and it began to feel strange since Devon wasn't yet here.

"I can see he hates spending time with his family." I spoke comfortably.

" He will, probably after he's done with his work. Being the most powerful mafia boss is a whole lot of work to do, so Kayla please understand him."Mrs Alessandro assured.

Mr. Alessandro's eyes narrowed slightly. "Our son has shared his ambitions with us. He's committed to his work and expects the same dedication from his partner."

I swallowed, understanding the weight of his words.

"I assure you, I understand the importance of loyalty and commitment." I added.

After the dinner, I headed back to our room and sat on the couch waiting for him.
I got tired so I finally resolved to go to his office.

( Knocks on the door)

"You missed dinner." I spoke while closing the door.

"What are you doing here Kayla?" He asked while trailing his eyes from the documents in his hands to mine.

"I was bored and perhaps I hadn't seen you since I came."

"Isn't that what you want?"

I didn't know how to answer this question so I kept silent.

"Kayla, it's getting late and you have school tomorrow. Lorenzo has already arranged everything for you, including your things and transportation. It's important to get a good night's sleep." He paused.

"Take your pills and if you want anything, you can inform Lorenzo about it." He concluded.

" Aren't you coming?'' I asked him.

"No-

" Why?" I interrupted him.

" We are not going to share the same room."

" And why is that so?"

" Please Kayla we both know it's for the best. Now go." he pleaded.
