Waking up to another morning is the best feeling you’ll ever have. I can smell the lovely cooking of my Ma and the brewing of the coffee by my Pa. It’s their specialty. Grandma lives with us now too, she came to the city the moment she heard about my accident. My mother enters the room holding a tray in her hands. I can actually smell the fresh egg and bacon she just prepared. I give her my broadest smile.
“This is the last time I’ll be bringing your food here, you silly girl,” she says and left the tray on the bed-side table.
I don’t mind but…“Yep! Thanks Ma!” I give her a very tight hug and then she goes by the door.
“Don’t leave us again like that, okay?” she asks, I nod. “…going to an adventure without us, what were you thinking?” she adds, winking and leaves the room.

I still walk going to school. I’m in my first year of college now. I won’t tell you my course, because I know that you know about it anyway. I also live in the province now. Actually, let me re-state what I have said earlier, we live with my Grandma now. Hazel and I are friends again but she too went her own way and continues to study in a different city. We send letters to each other every now and then. I also have this new cat. I name her Puppie, isn’t it ironic? Some people don’t like the name but I think it’s cute.
There are still times that I miss being able to fly. I truly miss my wings. To feel the wind hit my feathers. To go in loops. To fall. To fly back again. After what had happened, I began to see the world in a different way. My hair is still white don’t worry, it will be my forever signature.
Meet my new friend, Emma. You see the big tree over there? Two people are standing under the tree but she’s the girl with curly brown locks. She goes the same class as I am. She did not know about my story, although I told her I knew how to fly once. She just laughed. But she’s kind and we get along very well.
Together, we made it to school and were able to see my other friends. Meet, Sallie—the forever shy. She’s that tall girl with a straight black hair. Now here are Joey and June—the twins. Both have the same wavy light brown hair. Joey is that girl I’m pointing to with eye-glasses, same like mine. And June is her brother. I think their birth certificates got messed up, since they look alike very much even now that they are in college. Though they said they liked their name being switched up. We hurry to our class as the musical bell rings, meaning the classes are going to start in a few minutes.
Some may say—you only live once but at that time I live not only twice. I became a bird after my accident. And now I am living my third life the way I should be living it the first time. I am now inside the classroom half listening to my professor. Looking out of the window, I see a pigeon. It’s on a branch of a tree looking straight at me, staring and does nothing. I put up my big hard bounded book to cover my face from our professor. I wave a hand behind the book to the pigeon. The moment I did, the pigeon flaps its wings. I imagine seeing his smile again and I smiled back at him.
THE END.
