Everly Jordan

Everything happened in slow motion.

Some people were going down because they were in pain, and my grandmother was screaming in horror. I turned to find where Mason was, and when I saw him, someone grabbed my arm.

"Where do you think you're going?" He hissed, and his men grabbed both of my arms, dragging me with them.

"Dug down," Asher ordered, and I dug down. The men beside me were shot. I turned around and ran towards Mason. Before I could reach him, someone slammed something into my back. I fell to the ground instantly.

Someone grabbed my hair and pulled me up, turning my body around to face my grandfather. His eyes were burning with hatred. It looks like he was thirsty for revenge. He slapped me across my face so hard that I thought I had broken my neck. He gestured for his men to take me.

"Fuck you!" I hissed, and if ignored me. He took a knife from one of his men's back pocket and poked it on my back.

"Say a word again, and I'll stab you." He threatened. He led me towards their car. Before we reached the car, my grandfather ordered them to turn me around. He put the knife on my throat, pushing it a little.

"I should have killed you sooner." He hissed as he slowly trailed the knife horizontally. I tried to pull away, but his men put him in place.

"Please don't."

"Why? Are you afraid that it'll ruin your pretty voice?" He asked, and I could feel blood dripping down.

"Ple-" I froze when someone shot him multiple times. When he dropped to the floor, Mason was standing there with a gun. He hit two men who were holding me in place. I ran to him and hugged him. He reached for my earpiece and put it into his ears.

"What the fuck were you thinking? I'm going to punish you." He said weakly.

"I'm sorry. I was worried about you." I pulled away and looked at him sadly. He ripped his shirt and wrapped it around my neck. I looked down, and my blue shirt was slowly turning red.

"We'll get you treated." He assured me, and I nodded.

"Lead us back, Serano." Suddenly, his head snapped to his right, and Patrick ran towards us. He gestured for us to go, and Mason held my hand tightly. He wanted me to follow Patrick first.

I kept looking back to see if he was following me or not.

Then I could hear people screaming and saw them lying on the ground, crawling like a zombie. I could see smoke coming from their backs.

What is happening?

We got into the car, and Patrick drove us back to where the bloodhound was. I looked out the window, and it looked like a zombie apocalypse.

"They implanted a chip on their backs," Patrick told me, and I could feel my consciousness slowly fading. I wrapped my hand around my neck, and I turned to Mason, who was not in a good state either.

Patrick had to run into some people to get to where the Bloodhound was. When we got there, the team immediately helped us out. Leroy helped Mason, and Patrick helped me. We got into the helicopter and took off.

"Everly," Mason called me.

"Hmm?"

"Stay with me." He whispered as he held my hand.

"Okay."

Then everything went black.

Mason Calland

The Novikovs were desperate.

After the twins got caught, some people that I assigned to spy on them told me that they had no money left. Andrei broke the Novikovs apart. Their last batch of money was spent on hitmen for Everly, which they failed miserably.

They thought they would get her and have their money back, but since they were failing so badly, they had to show themselves to get her.

I was two steps ahead of them.

I planned this the night before with Asher. Everything went according to plan except for Everly's sudden appearance. Asher even set his new laser tech to finish all of them, but when Liam revealed that they put a tracker on their spine, he changed from using a laser to messing with the trackers.

I wanted to punch him so severely for changing at the last minute when we already had planned the laser.

I glared at Asher, who was sitting on his hospital bed right across mine. He was looking up at the ceiling blankly. I can't wait to beat the shit out of him for taking Everly with him to Vermont.

Fucking idiot.

I turned to my right to see Everly still sleeping. Her grandfather didn't cut her throat that deep, so she only needed stitches for the outer part of her skin.

"I miss her." My attention shifted to Asher, who was still looking at the ceiling.

"And it's your fault that you lost her." He turned to me and let out a sigh.

"I'm going to fucking kill you after I'm done healing."

"Feel free." Ever since Ana passed away, he was a changed man. It's like he summoned a monster within himself, bringing it out to the world. People saw how cruel and unforgiving Asher was, but now... he's turning into something we don't know.

He's ruining himself over and over again. He will never stop blaming himself for what happened and will never cease to look back.

Last week, he came into the headquarters soaked in blood. There's so much blood that it ruined his car seat and left trails in the headquarters.

He brought a head once, and people were screaming and gasping in shock. Fifty people resigned after seeing him that day, and he casually put those heads in his office.

Life wasn't as fun as when Ana was in it.

He was bored to death, and his way of having fun was to kill people. He loves blood more than anyone, and he loves seeing people's souls leave their bodies after he kills them.

He and Ana shared the same fascination, and since he had no one to share with, he was losing a way of life.

"I'm going on a killing spree tonight. Wanna come?" Fucking idiot.
