Aonung POV

It was about 10:30am when I got over to the Sully's house. I saw Neteyam's car parked in the driveway of the house, his youngest sister was outside with some dog, running around with it. She looked at me and glanced at her house.

"Hello... I'm here to work with your brother on an assignment for school," I stated nervously, "He told me to come over here?"

She looked at me and ran into her house with the dog. I was about to stop her when I saw Neteyam come outside. He smiled and waved me over. I gave him an awkward smile in return as I made my way over to him. I remembered when I was here last. I had said some hurtful things and it pissed his family off.

"Let me just start by saying I am so sorry about the last time I was over?" I started, looking over at him as we entered his house, "I was immature. And I should've tried to make a better impression."

"It's fine," he stated calmly, "I wasn't particularly bothered; at least not anymore. I prefer to let things roll off. Like water on a ducks back?"

I didn't really get the metaphor that he spoke of, but I nodded like I understood. I didn't really care as long as it was him speaking. Only a few things actually crossed my mind at this time: how could I have been so mean to this boy, and how could I make things right for us?

I entered the house and saw his brother sitting on the couch with their other sister, I think her name was Kiri, and they were watching some tv show. Lo'ak glared at me and I accepted it. I didn't deserve the forgiveness of anyone in this family. I was rude and disrespectful. Who wanted someone like that in their home?

"We can go up to my room, it will be easier to work in there," Neteyam hummed, starting to make his way up the stairs.

I nodded, following behind him. I finally got to notice the little things about their house that I didn't see before at the dinner. There was military regalia, which I assumed belonged to his father? Maybe a few things to his mother too. It explained the bomber jacket that he wore. I also was able to note the difference in culture in the house. It differed from my family and our own cultural differences.

I was also able to notice that Neteyam had his own pet, like his siblings. It was a snake? I had never been a big reptile fan, so I was very quick to turn him down when he offered to let me hold the beast.

We got settled on the floor and began our work. It was hard to keep up if I'm being honest. He seemed to understand the topic much better than I ever could. I envied him for it, but it somehow wasn't in a negative way.

The time flew by, our work long and tiring. It had reached a point of getting dark and time to eat dinner. I looked at Neteyam for a moment before gathering my things. I stood up and felt his eyes land on mine.

"Are you leaving? It's completely dark outside?" he asked, looking out his window.

"I don't mind. The walk isn't too bad. I'd be home in about thirty minutes," I shrugged, opening his bedroom door.

"Just sleep over. My family won't care and you can join us for dinner. It's not like we have school tomorrow," he smiled, standing up, "What do you say?"

I thought for a moment. I'd probably end up borrowing some of his clothes and we would get some time to actually get to know each other. I sighed and ended up agreeing to staying the night. He beamed with joy and told me to call my parents while he went to let his family know I'd be staying.

I didn't know what I would be getting into that night, but I would do it all again for him.

[Hey guys. Sorry for the like- super late update. I didn't think this was still being read and I had the beginning of this chapter in the drafts. I've been busy. I graduated high school, went to a "bootcamp" for some military stuff and I move to my college in a week. I'll try to make a schedule for updating. I have another fic in the works for Wolfstar and I also was working on a personal story. In my free time I have actually been working on a novel about queer cowboys. I'm trying to keep writing and I promise to try and be better with this story chat. Anywho, I'll be back with the next part soon!]
