The rain pounded mercilessly on the shack roof. It had only been a couple hours since the Governor tore the prison to shreds. The only other people that Carol saw escape the prison were Carl and Rick, but Carol didn't specifically see what direction they were headed in. Carol thought that she was lucky that she had made it out with Daryl and Beth. Although, she didn't like how quiet Daryl was and she could see that Beths chattering was getting on his nerves. As Beth kept talking away, Carol could see the fire building up in Daryls eyes. Beth was about to say something else when Daryl started yelling.
"ISNT IT ENOUGH THAT YOUR DADDY'S DEAD, AND MAYBE THE REST OF THE GROUP?! WE LOST EVERYONE. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO SHUT THE FUCK UP?"
Daryls shouting did indeed do the trick, but it was only seconds before Beths piercing crys hit the silent air. Beth narrowed her eyes at Daryl
"YOU HAVE SOME NERVE TALKIN' BOUT MY DADDY. SCREW YOU DIXON!"
Beth stormed out of the one room shack. Carol immediately followed Beth to make sure that beth didn't stumble into any trouble. As Carol approached Beth from behind she could hear sniffles. Carol spun Beth around and said
"Sweetie, Daryl didn't mean any of that. He is just bad at containing his anger, you know that."
Beths face calmed.
"I know he didn't mean it, but he didn't have to bring up my daddy."
Carol brought Beth into a hug and comforted her. Carol was happy for a second that she calmed Beth down, but she was unbelievably pissed at Daryl and she was about to unleash her anger. Before Carol walked into the shack she told beth to wait outside so she could yell at Daryl. As Carol stepped in the shack she saw Daryl sitting in the corner of the room, poking holes in the floor with his arrow. Daryl looked up at Carol and Carol coldly said
"Why in the hell did you bring up Hershal? It just happened today.
Daryl glared at her
"She needs to learn when it's time to talk."
Carol scoffed
"She was trying to get her mind off of what happened today. Maybe YOU should learn how to stop being a jackass all the time"
Carol saw that he was getting more mad with every word she said. He started shouting again
"YOU ACT LIKE SHE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS LOST SOMEONE."
Carol tried to remain calm
"I never said that. Im just saying that you should take it easy on her."
Daryl rolled his eyes and walked away to the opposite end of the room. Beth walked in and plopped down on the floor and sleep took her almost instantly. Carol tiptoed over to Daryl and sat right next to him. She noticed that he didn't flinch. She looked at him and said
"We didn't lose everyone Daryl. We have each other."
Daryl returned her gaze, now they were making eye contact. Carol felt the atmosphere around them change. As Carol started to lean in for a kiss, a walker started banging on the outside of the shack. Daryl got up and said
"Why don't you go by Beth and bed down for the night"
Carol felt defeated. Her mind started racing and she felt a tear trail down her cheek. She simply said "ok"
