"You know, you're really going to hurt my feelings if you don't pretend to at least look like you're eating those noodles," Mr Kim Seokjin, chef extraordinaire, somewhat friend of the Jeon family, spoke loudly, jolting Jungkook out of the space in his head.
"I don't make them for just anyone, you know," he went on, before pulling out an uncomfortable looking chair and sitting down across from the preoccupied student."Sorry, hyung," he apologised with an awkward smile, as he made a show of lightly stirring the aromatic noodles with his chopsticks.
"What's wrong, Jungkook? Is it your father?" He asked tentatively, watching as the boy stuffed some food into his mouth, trying, but failing dismally, to look like he was enjoying it.It was doubtful he could even taste it.
Jin knew both Jungkook and his father through his own family's connection to the Jeons, and he'd always thought the toy magnate asked, and expected, too much from his only child.
The talented young student came to him often to unburden himself, chatting while Jin taught him how to cook. He'd managed to glean a lot during those hours he spent with him, and it saddened him immensely that the boy was so obviously unhappy.Just like he was right now.
Jungkook shook his head and struggled to speak due to his mouth being so full, his soft cheeks puffing out as he chewed, his rosy lips forming a cute little pout.
"You can tell me, you know you can speak freely."
"Nothing to tell," the student said, swallowing the tasteless food, his chopsticks continuously stirring the noodles.
"Jungkook, I know there's something wrong," he sighed, as once again the boy shook his head in disagreement."You fell asleep with the side of your face pressed into raisin bread dough. You were picking the raisins out of your ear for days!" He exclaimed as the other pushed the bowl of unfinished noodles to the side.
"It was one raisin," the student corrected, "and it was stuck in my hair, not my ear."
"Hair. Ear. What's the difference?" The teacher asked airily, rolling his eyes. "You still fell asleep, on dough."Jungkook eyed him for a few moments, unsure if he should tell him about Tae, about the dreams, the unmitigated fear? Ultimately, he decided against it. Not that he didn't trust him, he knew his hyung would never divulge anything personal to the elder Jeon. It's just that, he'd more than likely think he was crazy. And at times he himself couldn't argue with that conclusion.
"It's nothing, really," he stressed as Jin raised a brow in disbelief, but the teacher knew he couldn't push him on it.
"It-it's personal," was all he would say, his dark eyes cast down a little, "I'll fix it on my own."
"Are you sure? Maybe I could help you-"
"No," Jungkook spoke firmly, his dark gaze raised, to hold the others, "I'm sure."The teacher held that gaze and hummed a little with uncertainty, but decided that if Jungkook wanted to, he'd come and ask for his help.
It's not like he hadn't before."You better be," Jin warned jokingly, "I can't have you falling asleep and picking endless raisins out of your ear-"
"It was one raisin!" He groused, slumping huffily in his chair as the teacher got up from his seat, chuckling.
There was no point in trying to push the conversation in a direction the boy was unwilling to take it. Instead, he decided to go meddle in his kitchen, and annoy the staff there, and leave Jungkook to his preoccupation, whatever it was."You really are good with your hands," The beautifully, low toned voice spoke from behind, making Jungkook jump in surprise, a fine tipped paintbrush, tumbling from his fingers.
He spun around freakishly fast on his stool, his dark eyes widening with shock to see Tae standing there.
