CHAPTER ZERO, love of the game
❝ there's nothing else that gives you that feeling ❞
Lana Heeney thrived, cheers filled the stadium as red and white colours blurred into the background. six points, the first six points that the first sydney swans female team had ever earned and the first goal they had kicked, all by Lana.
Lana's smile erupted as the point shaped ball went soaring between the two posts. Her first goal of the season with her new team and she couldn't be happier. High fives from her team mates came flying to her before she looked in the not so crowded crowd for her brother who was cheering with their parents.
After the first goal kicked the first half came quickly as Adelaide was up by 2 goals. The team of girls went back into the rooms, puffed out and drinking from their water bottles as the coach went on.
Chloe and Lara looked at each other from opposite sides of the room, the captain looking at vice captain. Some of the girls were exhausted, they were leading by a lot and at the end of the second quarter Adelaide stepped up. "Coach" Lara said, stepping up to their coach Scott who had finished showing the fixture with Chloe behind her "yes" he replied, giving his full attention to the girls "can we talk to the girls?"
"I wouldn't have picked you girls as captains if I didn't trust you enough to talk to them"
Lara and Chloe smiled from the mans words before he went to check on Lucy who had rolled her ankle badly in a tackle.
Lara clapped her hands together to allow her team to look towards her which they all did.
"First of all, that made me feel like a primary school teacher" she started, which earned some laughs from the forwards, but their defenders where in their heads, she could tell. "First quarter was really good, we need to play like we did then okay, they might be up by two goals but we need to think as if we are starting the game fresh, which means our energy is up and we aren't in our heads" she said, putting a hand on Ella's shoulder.
