I climbed the rickety stairs leading to the attic, the pitter-patter of my paws resonating through the dimly lit space. The attic was home to our lively community of rats, with makeshift nests scattered throughout the room. In the corner, there stood a crate that served as my friend's humble abode.

My friend had invited me for tea a few days ago, and how could I say no?

As I approached the crate, my whiskers twitched with anticipation. I climbed up the sides, peering inside to find my friend seated on a small cushion, a humble tea set laid out before them. Our eyes met, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Their eyes glistened with their usual shade of [REDACTED], reflecting the dim light of the attic.

My heart skipped a beat, unsure of my earlier suspicions. Could the change in eye color be attributed to anything other than the natural ebb and flow of light? I dismissed the notion as mere confusion, convinced that I had imagined the possibility.

"Acho?" My friend asked with both warmth and confusion, pouring tea into the delicate cups. They motioned for me to join them on the miniature cushion adjacent to their own. "What are you doing here?"

I hesitated for a moment, why did they not seem to remember inviting me? However, the offer of tea was too tempting to resist. I scurried over to join my friend, settling myself comfortably beside them.

As we settled in, my previous concerns faded into the background, overwhelmed by the inviting atmosphere. The aroma of the tea filled the cramped space, wrapping around us like a comforting blanket. I relaxed, my tiny whiskers trembling with delight.

My friend paused, their eyes glancing towards the corner of their home. "I'm sorry..." they said, their voice tinged with a hint of solemnity.

My ears perked up, my heart thudding in my chest. "What?" I asked, a mix of curiosity and concern in my voice.

But before my friend could respond, an unexplainable shift occurred. A fleeting glint danced in their eyes, a momentary flicker that brushed against the surface of their thoughts. My instincts tingled, sensing a presence that dwelled within them.

My whiskers twitched with alarm, I scrambled backward, my heart pounding in my chest. Fear mingled with the lingering aroma of tea, my instincts warning me of the hidden menace.

"W-What are you doing?!" I squeak in alarm, my voice filled with desperation. I watched in horror as their hand darted towards the kitchen counter, swiftly seizing a knife.

Time seemed to slow as an unsettling aura enveloped the room, shrouding their actions in a veil of mystery. The air prickled with an unspoken force, and my frantic heartbeat echoed in my ears.

And then, darkness consumed everything. The attic, once filled with warmth and teetering on the edge of revelation, fell into an eerie silence.

(A/N) Sorry it took so long! I ran out of ideas
