indigo's pov.
shivers. again.
that's all I had been waking up to these past three weeks, and it only confirmed more and more my suspicions that this october was going to be a very cold one. I groan, throat sore from the frigid air that I've been breathing all night as I prop myself up on my elbows, rubbing my eyes before blinking and adjusting to the light from my window.
recently, my ears have been more sensitive too, but I'm attributing that to the lack of allergies I've had these past couple of days, therefore lack of sinus issues, and clearer ears. that's why I can here the bicycle outside, and the little girl giggling as she ride it, with her two parents behind her. even though I'm rubbing my eyes. I look out my window again, only to realize they have yet to pass my house.
before I really have any kind of chance to question it, I hear my brother's footsteps starting toward my door, and sit up, legs hanging off the side of my bed and popping my shoulders back. then, the knock at the door, followed by my approval on coming in.
"hey, you're up - your bus gets here in about-"
"yeah, twenty minutes, I know,"
"meh meH meh meh meh - okay, well, there's toast in the kitchen, so, hurry up before someone else eats it."and that's all I need to hear before making noises at him, calling him rude, and pushing him out of my room, laughing the whole time.

"no, no, no, okay, listen, okay, hear me out," persephone was howling, eyes and cheeks pink with breathlessness as she tried to take a breath and present her idea. the warning bell for class had just rung, but we had already been hanging out in the pre calc classroom for the past ten minutes. it had the nicest seats, and the teacher was almost always a minute late to class.
"you have to pick, who gets the soul of we murder someone, me, or seph?"
"why do i have to pick? why not like, simon, or, I dunno, indigo or something?"
"you have the highest moral standing, it's funnier if you choose."currently, the two redheads in our group were having a debate (and forcing poor gray to play judge). as gingers, and as the saying goes, they don't have souls, so, who gets the soul of some poor random hypothetical murder victim.
"okay, um, gosh, wow. who actually murdered him?"
"we both did, we're as guilty as the other."
"oh, come on..."clearly, gray was not having the greatest of time with this situation, and was becoming stressed. his thumbs were pressed into his temples as his eyes flitted around, trying to come by some good standing. leaning back in my chair, chin in my own hand, I blinked over to simon, raising my eyebrows and laughing a bit. a rush of air left him as he grinned a little harder than he had. been before. "these two are going to give codell an aneurysm."
i return the smile, covering my mouth with a fist slightly as I tilt my head to respond. "those two always give gray an aneurysm, it's a miracle he hasn't just... I dunno, exploded or something."
"I would NOT explode, too high class for that. "
"your mom wasn't too high class -"
and then some other students started funneling into the classroom, and our discussion came to an abrupt end.I didn't have to look behind me to know whose footsteps approached, though, it was rather odd that she wasn't sitting with helen and bex, who she shared this class with. no, instead, etie xammey set next to me instead of her regularly assigned seat, a little closer to the front of the class. I turned, and she waved at me before sitting down.
etie and I had never really been close or anything - we followed each other on social media, and i think gray knew her a bit better than I did. to be fair, it wasn't a good "know", she stepped on any nerves possible whenever possible, according to gray, but she was always somewhat pleasant with the rest of the group. plus, she was friends with bex, joseph's boyfriend, so we saw them somewhat often. before I had a chance to properly ask, the bell rung again, and she was getting her items from her backpack, setting them out nicely.
