The day Princess Rhaenyra gave birth to her first born was marked by one of the worst storms the Realm had seen in decades. The labor was long and difficult, for one day, the sky had been black, thunder growling and ground shaking every so often. The labor started late in the afternoon, but the babe was born only at noon the day after. The maesters were growing anxious with each passing hour without any progress. The Princess was exhausted, her agonizing screams could be heard in all the Red Keep, but never did she give up, using every thundering sound as a call to try and push her firstborn out. Only when the little babe came out of her belly did the sky become clear and blue again, the sun peeking through the thick black clouds. Rhaenyra's screams ceased, and for a min, everyone outside her chambers held their breaths, colors leaving their figures. Leanor, Rhaenyra's husband since a bit over nine moons ago, was the first one to try and fight his way into his and his wife's chambers. Anxiety. That was the feeling everyone was sharing at this very moment, for a while forgetting all the tension between the two sides of that one family. Then, after what seemed like an eternity, a cry could finally be heard through the large doors, and then a nursemaid opened the doors, welcoming Lord Laenor, the King and the Queen inside. Leanor rushed inside first, and there he saw her, his wife, his best friend, cradling a little babe gently in her arms. She was exhausted, that was written all over her face, she was pale, well, paler than she normally was, Valyrian blood on the Targaryen side of the family had that effect, and her eyes were circled and wet with tears and sweat mixed together.
Leanor approached her, gently taking the babe in his arms, she was the most beautiful thing he ever laid eyes upon. A girl. His precious little girl. She had porcelain skin, and large deep lilac eyes, she looked at him, and for a moment he swore he could have seen her smile at him. He knew she wasn't his, for she was the reason his marriage with Rhaenyra had been organized in such a rush. Yet, he instantly loved her. And he swore to love and protect her as if she was his own, for after all, he was the one that has been here all along Rhaenyra's pregnancy, he was the first one to hold her after her mother, and he was the one she first laid eyes on. He was going to be her world, just as she became his at this very instant.
"My little princess" he said, love filling his eyes as he gently went to caress her little cheek.
Alicent approached next, asking to hold the little girl. She had hated Rhaenyra for months now, in her mind, their past deep bond lost forever, she expected to feel the same towards her future children, but when she saw the little girl, her tiny delicate face, she melted, her heart entirely forgetting about who her mother was. She rocked the little princess in her arms, like she had with her own second boy, born only three moons before the little girl.
"She is adorable, I'm sure she will be a true beauty when growing up" she said, smiling at Leanor and then timidly looking at the crowned heir, her smile dropping ever so slightly. Viserys had made his way to his wife, looking fondly at the little girl, whose hand had wrapped its way around one of his fingers.
