Chapter 4:
The Duel of Fates

POV: Rafael

The sun was setting on Manila, casting long, ominous shadows that seemed to set the stage for the impending duel. As I faced Lucien in the deserted alleyway, the city's usual hustle and bustle felt like a distant memory.

Lucien stood across from me, his emerald eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"May the best demon win, Rafael," he taunted, his voice echoing in the silence.

I merely nodded, my focus entirely on the rogue demon in front of me. I had to win this, not just for my pride, but for Leah. I couldn't let Lucien's reckless games put her in danger.

As the duel began, the alleyway became our battlefield. Our powers clashed, creating a spectacle of light and shadow. Lucien was a formidable opponent, his attacks as cunning and deceptive as the demon himself. But I was not to be underestimated.

The duel was intense, neither of us willing to back down. We traded blows, our powers lighting up the night. The air was charged with energy, the tension palpable. But amidst the chaos, I could see Leah watching from a safe distance, her face etched with worry.

The turning point of the duel came when Lucien, in a desperate move, tried to use a forbidden spell. Seeing his intent, I acted quickly, using my own powers to counter his. The resulting clash sent a shockwave through the alleyway, the force of it knocking us both back.

As the dust settled, I found myself standing over Lucien, my powers holding him at bay.

"This ends now, Lucien," I declared, my voice echoing through the silence.

With a reluctant nod, Lucien conceded defeat.

"You win, Rafael," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper.

As I released him, I turned to find Leah rushing towards me.

"Are you okay, Rafael?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern.

I nodded, managing a small smile. "I'm fine, Leah."

That night, I not only won the duel, but also a small victory against the prophecy. But as I looked at Leah, her face illuminated by the city lights, I knew our journey was far from over. The prophecy was still a mystery, and Lucien was still a threat. But no matter what, I would protect Leah, even if it meant battling my own kind.

. ........

POV: Leah

The aftermath of the duel left the alleyway shrouded in an eerie silence. Rafael stood tall, his powers still crackling with energy, while Lucien lay defeated, his pride wounded.

As the realization of his defeat sank in, Lucien's eyes flickered with a mix of anger and resignation.

"You may have won this battle, Rafael, but the war is far from over," he hissed, his voice laced with venom.

Rafael's gaze hardened, his voice steady. "I won't let you harm Leah or anyone else. Your treachery ends here."

With a final glare, Lucien disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind a lingering sense of danger. The threat he posed was far from extinguished, but for now, we had gained a temporary respite.

As the adrenaline of the duel subsided, I approached Rafael, my heart still racing.

"Are you alright?" I asked, my voice laced with concern.
