There were so many injured, so many killed. And it was all. His. Fault.
Ash was lying in a hospital bed, overthinking everything and letting his guilt eat him from the inside out, like everytime something big and disastrous happens. It was 3 days after the Kalos Crisis and the city of Lumiose was just starting to recover. He blames himself for what happened. He always had to be the hero, all because of that prophecy from Shamouti. Suddenly a 10 year old boy who was barely 2 years into his journey had to be this saviour, this Chosen One. Even Lysandre knew what that boy was capable of. No wonder why he had showed such interest to a boy from a nowhere town. It was too much pressure for him! He tried to be the hero but it was so hard.
'You idiot! You shouldn't have trusted Lysandre, you knew there was something off about him. Yet you ignored it,' the voice told him. It was back, that very same voice that had been in his head the day he was born. The voice that even though berated him for everything and blamed him, was completely right. It was always right.
He did have a feeling that Lysandre was off, but he was just so tired of running, not trusting others and always trying to find an ulterior motive that he didn't care if his Aura was acting up and he could feel it telling him to run.
To hide.
To scream.
To cry.
He just wanted Lysandre to not be evil, even though he gave off a rotten Aura. But he ignored his Aura because he was just so tired of always thinking the worst in people, even though he didn't show it.
'If you were strong enough, then no one would've gotten hurt and died. If you were strong enough, your friends wouldn't have gotten hurt. Clemont is now in a coma because of you! You are useless. Wherever you go, evil follows. You are a walking disaster.' He felt like an awful person, he was an awful person. And was an even worse friend, who hurts his own friends? He cried silently, not wanting to wake his sleeping companion, Pikachu. They had been so much together, he was grateful Pikachu had stayed with him despite all the trouble he brings.
'You're lucky your Pokémon stay with you, with all the calamity you bring. You don't deserve your friends. Do them a favour and leave. They won't want you after what you've caused. They won't care about you anymore, and for good reason. Just do it. Leave,' it said.
Perhaps the voice was right.
No one would care if he left, in fact they would be happy about it. He knew Bonnie and Clemont would. Even if he wasn't happy about it, he knew it was the right thing to do.
He didn't want to do this, but it will help his friends a lot not to deal with him. He was holding them back. Without him, they would achieve great things!
He carefully sat up without disturbing his ribs and woke up Pikachu. He had broken a few of them during the crisis and one of them was misplaced and it punctured his lung. He got out of surgery feeling like he got ran over by a bus.
