Harry Potter just sat there, he had just come back from the zoo and had a good time, until he freed a snake on a horrible woman who beat him with her stick.

"I'm a wizard?" He asked.

"Yeah my sister, your mother was a witch. I hoped I could be too, but I stayed a muggle," Aunt Petunia sipped her tea.

"We swore we'd protect you, when we took you in. Thanks to the headmaster of Hogwarts we couldn't protect Lily and James from this Voldemort. But you Harry, you survived. That scar," Uncle Vernon said sighing.

"He killed my parents, how?" Harry asked.

"A killing curse. I knew they'd be safer where they were, but Dumbledore insisted they move to Godrics Hallow," Aunt Petunia sobbed.

Harry sat there. Fists clenched.

"Is it OK if I go for a walk. Only around the block," he said.

They nodded and Harry left the house.

Hermiones pov

I couldn't believe I lost control like that. It seems ever since my parents died, the rest of my family didn't want me. I found a park and sat on a swing.

"Breathe Hermione, someone will want you," I said to myself.

I then noticed a boy arrive. He looked like he'd been crying. He had messy black hair, round glasses and emerald bright emerald eyes. He was wearing jeans and a grey jumper. Over the top he had a grey coat.

I looked at my dishevelled appearance. I had bushy brown hair, broken front teeth, and was wearing a hideous jumper that made my skin itch. The trousers were ripped and I had holey boots on so my feet were blistered. I looked a mess. I had Amber eyes.

"You alright?" I asked him.

"Huh, um I don't know. I'm Harry Potter by the way," he answered.

"Um..I guess you can call me freak of nature seeing as nobody calls me Hermione," I responded.

Harry just sat there wondering if he was hearing straight.

"So tell me what's wrong? I know we just met but I will listen," I said.

Harry explained everything.

"Wait, no back up. You made the glass disappear at the zoo. I once made someone's goldfish tank explode and all the fish died," I said.

"How," Harry asked.

"I don't know, but maybe I'm a witch. It makes sense. One of my bullies was gonna hit me. So I wished his trousers down and he fell flat on his face in dog poo," I continued.

Harry laughed.

I started twirling a stick around my fingers.

"Maybe you are a witch. Come on, I'd better go home. You can come with me," Harry said.

I decided it was better than an orphanage or the street so followed him to Number 4 Privet Drive.

A big man opened the door.

"Uncle Vernon, this is Hermione. I found her on the street. She's like me, can she stay the night, please?" Harry asked.

"Yes but no funny business. By that I mean um ya know. Not magic, but in the morning I'll  be contacting people to see her," the big man said.

He looked at me.

"Any foods you don't like. Harry here is allergic to eggs," he said kindly.

"Two slices of toast and butter please?" I asked.

Harry said he'd do it and the man went to talk to his wife.

"She's wasting away, Vernon," the lady said.

"I know Pet, but I'm just not sure. I mean we need to know where she came from. Harry though, I've never seen him so happy to find someone who has magic," the man said.

"Yes, well I think its time. I hope I have an address. Yes I do, I'm going to send a person Lily always spoke fondly of a letter. A man, who I believe is Potions teacher. Severus Snape," Petunia said.

"It would be easier if we had an owl," Vernon sighed.

I sat there eating my toast.

"What are they talking about?" I asked Harry.

"I think we'll find out tomorrow," came the reply.
