July 7th dawned as a scorching summer day, and the Fitzroy residence buzzed with excitement. It was a significant day in the Fitzroy family, as it marked Isadora Dorthea Rothesay Fitzroy's eleventh birthday, a day of anticipation and joy. This birthday was particularly special, not just because it signaled her transition into pre-teen years but also because it bore the promise of her acceptance into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Dorie woke up in her magnificent bedroom, an oasis of opulence within the Fitzroy mansion. The room was a sanctuary of luxury, with satin drapes gracefully framing the tall windows, ushering in a soft, ethereal glow that danced across the room. The walls adorned with intricate tapestries seemed to come to life with the portraits of past Fitzroy family members, each of them beaming down at Dorie with pride and love. Her large, canopied bed cocooned her in comfort, and as she stretched and yawned, the room felt like a warm embrace.
Her parents, Claire and Ingram Fitzroy, were already bustling around the house, preparing for the day's festivities. The kitchen was permeated with the aroma of her favorite breakfast, including buttery croissants, fresh fruit, and homemade chocolate chip pancakes. Her older brother, Bartholomew, fondly known as Bertie, was already dressed in his Hogwarts robes as he excitedly joined his parents in the preparations. Dorie had always looked up to Bertie; he was the one who had introduced her to the world of books, magic, and imagination.
As Dorie made her way to the kitchen, the entire family and the Weasley family, dear friends of the Fitzroys and like a second family to Dorie, greeted her with beaming smiles. They wished her a resounding "Happy Birthday," their eyes sparkling with affection and joy. Dorie was ushered into the kitchen, where a magnificent breakfast spread awaited her. Yet, her eyes were fixed on a humble-looking letter her father was holding.
Eagerly, she tore open the letter, and as she read and re-read its contents, her heart swelled with joy. She screamed with delight, and in no time, Ron, her best friend and practically her brother, joined her in ecstatic celebration. Both children jumped around the kitchen, yelling, "Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy, Hoggy, Hogwarts, here we come!"
Fred and George couldn't help but make a mischievous comment, "Ron, you might have competition when it comes to screaming about Hogwarts."
The kitchen echoed with laughter, and the joy was infectious.
Claire and Ingram watched their daughter's happiness with a mixture of pride and love. They all savored a hearty breakfast. After practically inhaling the food, Dorie, Ron, Bertie, Fred, and George rushed to the estate's grand Quidditch pitch, spending the day engaged in exhilarating Quidditch matches under the sun. The hours flew by, and the setting sun marked their return to the house.
The Weasley family, now dear friends and almost family to Dorie, joined them for dinner. In the evening, they all gathered in the living room, where a massive two-feet birthday cake awaited Dorie's eager hands. She cut the cake, and soon it was time to unwrap her gifts, a part of the day she had eagerly anticipated.
One by one, Dorie opened her gifts, revealing a stack of books, knowing her deep love for reading. Her mother, Claire, had thoughtfully given her the latest volume of "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," and Dorie couldn't wait to delve into its enchanting tales. Her father, Ingram, surprised her with the newest Nimbus 2001 broomstick, a gift that filled her heart with joy, even though first years weren't allowed to have brooms at Hogwarts. Ingram wanted his daughter to be fully equipped for her quidditch practice, even at home.
Bertie, ever the protective older brother, presented her with the complete series of "Quidditch Through the Ages," a collection that Dorie had always coveted. From Mrs. Weasley, she received a hand-knitted jumper with a charming Hogwarts castle knitted onto the front.
Ron, her steadfast best friend, gifted her a large bag filled with her favorite treats, ensuring that her sweet tooth was well catered to. The mischievous twins, Fred and George, couldn't resist giving her a book about practical jokes, knowing her love for a good laugh.
From her loving grandparents, she received a new fancy fencing sword, which looked more like a rapier than a saber, its hilt wrapped in black leather with a simple gold pommel, a gift that spoke to their family's tradition of fencing. Her grandmother presented her with a beautiful golden locket, bearing the Fitzroy emblem on its front. When she opened it, she found a charming family picture with a young Dorie front and center, her toothy grin capturing her boundless childhood joy.
After opening all her presents, the Weasley family bid the Fitzroys a goodnight and headed home, leaving Dorie and her family to their own. Exhausted yet exhilarated from the day's events, Dorie changed into her pajamas and nestled into her bed, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and questions about Hogwarts and the magical adventures awaiting her. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of nervousness about leaving her adoring parents for Hogwarts, but she also knew it was a step toward embracing her magical destiny.
As the moon rose in the sky, Dorie looked over at her desk, where her mother's gift, "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," was waiting to be read. Remembering that reading the wizarding tales had the power to help her sleep, she decided to open the book and started reading.
Chapter one, "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot," immersed her in the enchanting world of wizarding tales. The stories spun their magic, and soon enough, sleep found her. As she drifted into dreams, Hogwarts and its mysteries filled her thoughts, and with a contented heart, she whispered, "Goodnight, Hogwarts. I'll see you soon."
With the enchantment of her birthday celebrations still fresh in her heart, Isadora Dorthea Fitzroy welcomed the embrace of slumber, knowing that her journey into the magical world would soon be a reality.
