~~~~~~~~~~POV: Alecia~~~~~~~~~~
I jump as Derek yells for what has to be the hundredth time tonight. Him, Ephraim, Brandon, Issac, Falcon, and Kebbi all jump up from the couch and start shouting at the tv which is currently showing the football game. "Derek," Susan scolds through gritted teeth as she grabs his arm and pulls him back down onto the couch. "What?" He asks innocently looking over at her with a confused expression. "If you keep yelling like that everytime something happens they're going to kick us out." "I wasn't the only one. They did it too." Derek motioned towards the other guys currently sitting around Susan and his room. I rolled my eyes at him before saying, "Yeah well, she's not their wife." Susan gives me a grateful look before turning back to Derek. Derek huffs clearly irritated and sinks back on the couch. "Sometimes I wonder how you're able to deal with him." I say to Susan as Derek goes back to watching the football game. Susan just shakes her head and smiles before responding, "He has his moments." I laugh as she says this and am about to make a comment when I hear a knock on the door. "That has to be Gabe, everyone else is already here." Susan comments as she stands up to answer the door. I'm watching Susan head towards the door when Derek yells at one of the players on the tv again. "Shut up, Derek!" I say angrily right as Susan turns around to scold him again. Derek mumbles what sounds like an apology before sinking further back into the couch. Susan sighs, giving me another grateful look, before turning around to open the door. I watch as Susan greets Gabe. After entering he starts making his way over to me, saying hello to the other band members as he passes. "Hey, what took you so long?" I ask, standing up to wrap my arms around him in a quick hug once he makes it over t0 the couch. "Sorry, Megan issues again," he replies quietly as he returns the hug. I understand immediately why it took him so long and give him a sympathetic look, "I'm sorry." "No, you don't have to apologize. I decided to break it off with her," he replies, his voice solemn but I can see the relief in his eyes. "Oh," was all I could think to say as we both sat down on the couch, "how'd it go?" "Well, I guess it could've been worse," he said, chuckling softly, "she didn't throw anything at me." "It's a good thing she didn't, I would have thrown her," I replied, causing him to laugh. I've always been protective of Gabe. He's the kind of person who's innocence makes them extremely susceptible to being used. Especially by bitches like Megan. "On a more serious note though, I'm happy for you. I know it wasn't easy, even though you weren't happy with her. You deserve to be happy Gabe," I tell him, making sure he can see the sincerity behind it. "Thanks Alecia," he replies warmly, a real smile finally forming on his face. "Of course, you're my bestie!" I say, smiling warmly at him. "So, you won't mind if I crash in your room with you?" He asks slowly, a hopeful look on his face. "You don't even have to ask," I laugh at the desperation in his voice. "Good, cause I don't think I can go back to my old room anytime soon," he's laughing and I join in with him. Gabe was the first to speak after our laughing had subsided, "So, I miss anything?" "Not too much, just Susan yelling at Derek for acting like a child, and from what I can tell, based on the yelling, the Jags are winning." I watch as Gabe looks over to where Derek and the others were sitting, and laugh when I see the look on Derek's face as Susan sends him what has to be the hundredth death glare of the night. "So the usual," he responds humorously. "Yeah," I say laughing,"Oh, Mark and Mike left before you got here to go get pizza, seems like dinner was so terrible." "Good, besides I don't think I've ever seen Derek watch football without pizza," Gabe replies, his attention shifting to the game. "Me neither," I reply. In all the time I've been a part of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, pizza was always guaranteed at any meetup or party we had together. I glance over at Gabe and can tell that he has calmed down since first arriving and that his mood is improving. I'm really happy for him. Ever since he started dating Megan he'd become miserable and was never really himself. He only ever acted like himself when he was around the band and I had started to miss his normally warm and friendly personality. Being a part of this band is probably one of the best things that has happened to me, it's like one giant family and I know that they are going to be happy to hear about Gabe breaking it off with Megan. None of us were very fond of her, especially me. I'm jolted from my thoughts by a knock on the door to which Susan sighs heavily before standing and going over to answer it. I'm shocked to see Maggie Rose, whom I'd only met a couple weeks ago, on the other side of the door. Wondering what she could possibly be doing here I do my best to secretly eavesdrop on their conversation. I hear her mention something to Susan about needing a favor and watch as Susan invites Maggie into the room. They move over to the opposite side of the room, away from the band, where their conversation can be more private. Once settled across the room from where I am, I watch as the two carry on what seems like a serious conversation. I'm interrupted from figuring out their conversation by another, louder, knock on the door. This time Gabe offers to answer it, to which Susan sends him a grateful look before thanking him. I'm happy to see that it's Mike and Mark this time, with the pizzas in hand. Once they make it in the door the rest of the room greets them happily as they set the multiple pizza boxes down on the table. "We got the pizzas!" Mike announces happily as he starts distributing pizzas.While Mike passes out pizzas Mark grabs Gabe by his shoulder and guides him over to the spot next to me on the sofa. I'm confused by what he's doing and find myself wondering if something happened with Gabe that I should know about. Mike joins him after handing out the rest of the pizza. "What's all this about?" I ask him, my confusion evident in my voice. "No worries Alecia, there's just something I need to ask Gabe about," Mike replies as he gives Gabe a knowing look which Gabe returns with a look that tells me he's just as lost as I am. Mark takes a seat near us leaving enough room next to him so Mike can plop down onto the sofa. "So Gabe, who's your new girlfriend?" Mark asks, humor in his voice as he starts to eat his pizza. "What?!" Both Gabe and I ask, shocked by his question. "You know, that pretty girl from the meet and greet that you gave your phone number to," Mark answers casually. "You gave your phone number to a girl and didn't tell me!" I ask, turning to send an offended look at Gabe, who has a nervous and embarrassed look on his face. That's when it hit me, "Wait, is that why you suddenly broke up with Megan?" "You broke up with Megan?!" Both Mike and Mark say in unison, both clearly shocked. "Yes," Gabe answers hesitantly. "Oh that's great news," Mark says excitedly as he stands up and turns to the rest of the room announcing loudly, "can I get everyone's attention please." At this the rest of the band turns to look at Mark including Maggie and Susan, and I feel Gabe sink back into the couch. He leans close to me and whispers, "What the hell is he doing?" "I have no idea," I whisper back, interested in seeing where Mark's going with this. "Our lovely bandmate Gabe," he motions towards Gabe as he says this,"has made the decision to terminate his horrid relationship with Megan the bitch!" After hearing this I watch as Issac and Falcon start cheering and Kebbi begins clapping his hands enthusiastically. Maggie, who is incredibly confused, looks to Susan for an explanation. Unlike the rest of the room though Susan is giving Mark a disbelieving look. "Seriously Mark, you could have worded that better. You know, been a little more supportive," I say, irritation coating my voice. "What?!" he asks innocently, "That was so supportive, and besides Gabe never liked her anyways." I roll my eyes at this and look over at Gabe who still hadn't moved from his sunken position on the couch. "Nevermind them," I tell him, "what girl did you give your number to?" I ask my curiosity getting the best of me. He readjusts his position on the couch so he's sitting up before saying, "It was just a girl I met this morning in the lobby," I give him a knowing look and he quickly adds shrugging nonchalantly, "plus she really enjoyed the show." "That's not the only thing she enjoyed," Mike commented under his breath. I sent him an annoyed look as Mark burst into laughter. "Since when did my lovelife become any of your guys' business?" Gabe finally says to Mark and Mike. "We're just looking out for you Gabe," Mike states, hitting him on the back, earning an annoyed look. "Yeah," Mark adds, "we can't have you dating trash like Megan again." Gabe rolls his eyes as the two start laughing again. "Don't take it personally," I comment to him as he leans back in his seat again, "I think they may have drank a little too much at dinner." "That or they left their filters at the door," Gabe comments dryly. I can hear the irritation behind his words. "Look, we can talk about this more later. When there aren't unwanted opinions being given to you." I say, attempting to cheer him up. To my satisfaction, a small smile forms to his face as he nods in agreement.
