The warm sunlight filtering through the window next to me and Mike's bed draws me out of my sleep. Mike is snoring softly next to me and his arms are still wrapped firmly around my waist. My first thought is to just go back to sleep but then I remember the text Eric sent me last night that I never got to check. I reach over Mike, careful not to wake him and grab my phone off of the nightstand. I open up the text from Eric and quickly glance over it. The text is an invitation to a dance this Saturday. It's going to be set up like a homecoming with dancing, food, and drinks; alcohol is permitted. It might be slightly childish but I feel a rush of excitement about the idea. I never went to any of the homecomings that my high school hosted and even though that was my decision I still regret it sometimes. The two main reasons I didn't go were my sister Amanda was always there and my friends always planned something else for us to do that night. The one year I had been planning to go but Mike was in town for the weekend and I wanted to spend time with him so I ended up not going that year either. Besides, he made up for me missing it, not that I cared much anyway, by taking me to my senior prom the next year. I glance over at Mike, a soft smile playing on my lips as I think back to that night and how we had danced together for hours. Then after the dance he drove me back to my parents house in his old mustang. I lost my virginity that night, in the back seat of his car. My smile widens as I place my phone back on the nightstand and turn towards Mike who is still snoring softly. I reach my hand out to caress his cheek, my thumb running over his lips. He makes a muffled noise in his sleep and his arms tighten around me pulling me against him. "Mike," I say his name softly while I comb my fingers through his hair. He shifts and his eyes open slightly before closing again. Mike groans deep in his throat as he rolls over and buries his face in the pillow. I am about to try and wake him again when I hear his muffled reply, "It's too early... I need my beauty sleep." At first I'm taken off guard by his reply, then I laugh before grabbing my pillow and hitting him with it playfully, "Get up Mike." He groans again but this time he rolls over to look at me with sleepy eyes. "Besides, if you wanted your beauty sleep you shouldn't have kept us up half the night." The corners of his mouth tilt up into a mischievous smirk, "It's not my fault, you're just so tempting." I feel a blush creep up into my cheeks at his comment. Mike wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me against him. "Can't we just sleep for a little longer?" His arms are warm and comforting and I cuddle into his embrace. "I would love to but I promised Maggie I would go to her sound check today." Mike pouts slightly before responding, "We're finally able to be together after months and you keep planning stuff with your needy friends." I sigh, shaking my head slightly as my arms wrap around him, "First of all my friends aren't needy and second you'll be able to spend time with me tonight." "Are you sure I won't come back to a room full of girls again." "Here I'll make you a deal if they try to come to our room tonight I'll send them away." Mike thinks about my offer for a second before responding, "You can hang out with your friends if you want." "No, I want to spend time with you." I run my fingers through his soft hair as I look into his dark brown eyes. "Alright, how about we make it a date night. I'll take you out to dinner then we can do whatever you want afterwards." I smile at him and place a loving kiss on his lips. "Sounds like a plan. Oh, and don't forget, we have soundcheck today." 'Trust me, I won't. I'm going to be looking forward to it all day." I laugh softly before kissing him again and climbing out of the bed. "So, what are you planning on doing today?" I ask, heading into the bathroom with my clothes in hand. "Tab and Tommy invited me to hang out with them." I stop in the bathroom doorway turning around to look at him in disbelief. "Then why were you complaining about me going to Maggie's soundcheck if you already had plans?" "I was just giving you a hard time, Sam." There's a smile playing on his lips as he climbs out of the bed and follows me into the bathroom. I roll my eyes at him playfully, turning towards the mirror to start getting ready.
Around an hour later Mia, Reagan and I are walking through the lobby on our way to Maggie's soundcheck. Reagan only agreed to come because she found out that Gabe was going to be there filling in for Maggie's piano player who is sick. She made it very clear that she wasn't coming to support Maggie but to support Gabe. "Reagan, stop yawning, you're making me yawn and I'm not even tired." Mia says irritably as Reagan yawns for what has to be the hundredth time this morning. "I'm sorry," Reagan replies as she takes a long sip from her large cup of coffee, "I was up texting Gabe really late last night." I give her a disbelieving look, "You do realize keeping him up all night isn't going to help him, it's actually going to do the complete opposite." "It wasn't intentional. We just started texting and we lost track of time." Mia glances over at me before asking, "How late did you two stay up?" "Umm, when we finally stopped texting I'm pretty sure it was almost three." Reagan sounds embarrassed and she looks anywhere but at us. "I can't wait to see him mess up because you kept him up all night." Mia laughs at my comment as I push open the door to the indoor venue where Maggie's soundcheck is being held. "I can't believe you stayed up till three talking to him. You literally met him yesterday." Mia sounds just as confused as I feel. "He's really sweet and great to talk to. We were really just trying to get to know each other." I smile slightly as Reagan talks about her and Gabe. We walk down the steps towards the front of the venue before picking seats in the fourth row. Far enough back so that we don't disturb the soundcheck.
