Zach's pov

What a pretty name for a pretty girl.

I didn't say that last part out loud. We just met. I didn't want her to think I was flirting with her already, even though I kinda am. But she's really pretty, how could I not?

I've never had feelings for a black girl. There were mostly white kids at my old school so I don't know any personally. But Leah, i'd love to get to know her. I wonder if she has a boyfriend.

She's just so beautiful. Her long hair, her full lips, her chocolate brown eyes, her flawless clear skin- damn.

Maybe going to this school won't be so bad after all.

"Thank you," Leah says, slightly blushing. "So, are you new?" She asks.

"Yeah. I moved here from Newark, New Jersey," I said. "I'm guessing you're from here." She nodded, "Do you like living here?" "Not really," I chuckled. "I don't really know anyone, so there's not much to do."

I made one friend, Justin, over the summer. He only lives a few blocks away from me, so we just hung over each others houses mostly all summer.

"What?-"
"Ms. Harrison? Mr. Ross?" says Madame whatever her name is. "I'm pretty sure your conversation can wait until the end of my class."

"All we're doing is passing out papers and shit anyway," I whispered, making Leah snicker. "She's barely even speaking French."

"Excuse me, Mr. Ross?"

"Oh nothing, I was just saying i'm sorry for interrupting your class."

"Thank you," she says. "De rien," I reply. "Impressive huh?"

Leah rolls her eyes.

"But anyway, there's lots of fun things to do," she says. "Well I don't know that much about here in the county since I live in the city, but could show you around sometime."

"Seriously?"

"Of course. If you don't mind taking the bus or train. I don't have a car yet." "That won't be a problem. I can drive us. I have a car," I said.

"Ok-" Leah was cut off by the bell. Wow, I didn't realize we were talking the whole class period. She stops me at the door. I'm just noticing how short she is compared to me.

"Here," she wrote down her number on a piece of paper. "Just in case I don't see you again today."

Later that day

I actually saw Leah again twice- in Physics and at lunch. I met her friend Dierra at lunch too. They're both really fun to be around.

Today was surprisingly a great day.

I pull up into driveway of my house and see my dad's car. "Dad's home," Taylor runs inside excitedly. My mom is in the kitchen cooking and my dad is in the living room watching tv.

My dad travels a lot because of his job. He's mostly always here for the holidays, but any other time we're lucky if we see him twice a week. Sadly, I don't even get excited to see my dad anymore. It's not that I don't like him, I'm just used to the routine by now. It's been going on for 5 years. I don't see how someone can get used to barely spending time with their family.

"Daddy!" Taylor runs into his arms, hugging him. "Hey baby, how was school?"

"It was awesome! I made 3 friends already and I'm thinking about trying out for cheerleading."

"That's great," Dad exclaims, hugging Taylor again.

Mom comes out of the kitchen with a bowl of cookies. "You guys want some cookies?"

"What about you son? How was your day?" Dad asks with his mouth filled with cookies.

"It was ok," I said.

"Ok? That's it?" asked Mom. "Do you like your new school? Did you make any friends?"

"Yes, Mom," I groaned. "See? There you go. What are their names?" she asked. "Just one. Leah."

"Leah? That's a girl's name," Mom said excitedly. "It's really not a big deal mom."

Dad buts in, "Alright, Zach's got a girlfriend." "She's not my girlfriend, I just met her!"

"Do you like her?" Mom asked. "Mom! Can we just stop talking about it?" I asked.
"Alright, fine."

I grabbed my backpack and went up to my room. I grabbed my headphones off of my bed and my phone, then headed back downstairs. "I'm going for a walk," I said before leaving out, turning up the music on my phone.

I walked around a lot during the summer so I know my way around the neighborhood by now. There actually are some fun things to do around here. There's a park not too far down the street, a couple convenience stores, the drive to the mall isn't very long-

Someone taps me on the shoulder. "Hi," I hear a voice say behind me. "Woah. Hi," I said, turning around and seeing a pretty, tall red haired girl now in front of me.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you," said the red haired girl. "What's your name?" "I'm Zach," I said.

"You're pretty handsome Zach. I haven't seen you around before." She says. "Thanks, I just moved here over the summer."

"So what school do you go to?"
"Pikesville high."
"Oh my gosh, I go there too."
"Really?"
"Yeah." "What grade are you in?" "11th," I say.
"Me too," she says. "What a coincidence."
"I know."

"Well, I have to go. See you around Zach." "Bye," I wave, heading in the opposite direction. That was kind of weird. Then I realize that she didn't even tell me her name.

"Wait a minute, what's-" I turn around and the red haired girl is gone.

Sooo, did you guys like chapter 2? What do you think about the "mysterious red haired girl"? Who do you think she is? What do you think will happen next with Zach and Leah? Tell me what you think ☺ Comment and vote please.
