Chapter 1: Chosen one

I lazily scrolled through my phone. It's not like I ever have anything better to do.
It's summer break and I rather stay at home than work.

Luckily I had the choice. You see I live with my older brother (Charlie) he's always working meaning he's never home. So it's like living by myself.

But I've grown a liking to being constantly by myself. So everything was fine.

I never really had friends either, they would just look at me as a lazy rich kid. I mean I was exactly "that" but it still hurt to hear it as often as I did.

I put my phone down on my bed. Today I promised myself I'd do something productive. (Like that'll happen.)
The most I did on summer break was open the fridge, and I barely did that.

I mean being lazy and eating at the same time was too much. I can't become a potato sack, not in the summer that's just embarrassing.

The most I ate was 2 meals a day, and that was because my middle school teacher traumatized me about calories. So I just stopped wanting to eat altogether.

This led to me having weight issues, but my brother never noticed so I stopped caring too.

I took a deep breath and then got up. When I got up I felt all of my energy drained. Wow. Just my luck. I pulled through and made my way to the staircase. I held on tight to the railings, then slowly made my way down.

Now it was around the afternoon and I still did nothing productive. I thought going down the stairs was enough, but is anything ever enough anymore?

I was about to make my way to the living room but then I heard a knock at my door. At first, I was stunned, I had no friends and just about nobody who cared about me.

So who was knocking...?

I let out a groan and then made my way to the door. It's summer break damnit. Leave me alone.

I opened the door to find a note. SERIOUSLY! I felt like killing whoever did this, I did all of that work just for an envelope. That's why I hate my life. "Why me," I muttered grabbing the envelope then I slammed the door with all of my remaining pride.

As I turned around I was met with somebody else!? "Who are you!" I asked shocked.

"Oh so it's true~" he replied with a raised eyebrow.

He was good-looking, he had tanned skin and silky silver hair. But the thing that immediately caught your attention was his beautiful amethyst-colored eyes.

"What are you and how did you get in? I asked zoning out into his face. I was trying to find out if I knew him but to no avail.

"I'm a nobody. And you took long to close the door so I slipped in." He lazily responded.

"That answers nothing," I sighed pushing him to the living room. My brother always said, "Treat our guests with the utmost respect." Even though it sounds stupid I still followed it.

"Random man sit wherever I'll go get some drinks," I grumbled walking away. I mean it must be important enough to enter my house.

When I opened the fridge it was full. "That's new." I stated grabbing the water jug. I poured 2 cups of water and ice and headed back to the living room where he was sitting patiently on my couch.

"I was scared you might have run away." He blurted sitting up. "It's my house I wouldn't run away," I replied setting the water down and then sitting down. "Good to know," he smiled grabbing a cup.

"Ok, enough small talk what is this about," I stated stretching out on the couch. "Well you can see me, so your fit for the mission," he began "Well I don't know what the mission is I just know it's for 𝒚𝒐𝒖." My head began to spin a mission for me?

"Why me? Can't everyone see you?" I asked trying to stay calm.

"Humans, well 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒔 have faulty sight. 𝑾𝒆 know this because you say animals have heighten vision. But sometimes people's vision 𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒑 letting them see 𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔."
He answered sitting up straighter.

"So i'm your 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒆?" I restated in my own words. "Your getting it! I knew you were the 𝒐𝒏𝒆." he said taking a sip.I got my senses back, than I also sat up straight.

"That's a little to bad I don't want to go on a big 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐'𝒔 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕. To save the world than mid way realize that 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 something 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆, to just have to go back to the 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚
𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈. To finish 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒚. I'm not the guy your looking for."

"But that mindset is what I'm looking for."
He pouted. I suddenly remembered the envelope. "Whats this?" I asked pointing to it on the table. "The mission contract."
Seriously a contract..

"What do I even get out of it?" I questioned.
"I'll give you 1 thing in 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆 world." He replied with a smirk. Now that was a good deal. " Deal!" I happily exclaimed. "That's the enthusiasm I want!" he exclaimed with the same excitement.

He opened the envelope. Inside was a black piece of paper and a golden pen, "what do you want?" he questioned.

"You." I immediately said.

His face dropped. "Isn't that.... Weird?" he asked looking me in the eyes. "I knew you wouldn't—" Before I finished he wrote something down. "Sign here. No take backsies," he said handing me the paper.

The paper read: Payment Silva Scarlett.
I gave up my pride and signed it. "Here," I said handing it back.

"By the way I'm Silva, you?"

"Well, I have a girly name. Anyway, I'm Masie Bright." After I said that he cracked a smile. "I love that name." Silva teased. My face turned bright red. "Hey!" I screamed.

I have a feeling we'll be good friends...
