Arriving home, the silence could kill. William quickly unlocked the door, opening it and letting himself, Michael and Elizabeth in. "Regroup here in a bit." He said sternly, Elizabeth then bursting into loud tears and storming off.
Even through that, all Michael could do was just stand there, looking down, just waiting for something to happen, until he felt William's hand on his shoulder. Michael slightly tensed and looked up at his father, "You see, Michael, you're just like me in a way." William spoke in his usual tone, as if that were a normal thing to even say to his son in the situation.
The only thing Michael could notice was the small grin on William's face, right before he up and walked away, leaving Michael to continue standing there until he finally began walking to his room.
He'd slowly walk, his footsteps making audible dragging on the floor below, right until he passed by Evan's room, where he should've been right now if not for Michael. He took a small step inside, looking around, taking in where Evan had left his things, where his belongings sat, any bit of the room that showed signs of him having been there just mere hours ago, it was too much to handle.
As much as they didn't get along, Michael never expected he'd be the cause of such damage to the family, to his brother. All he could do was stare, looking around, almost waiting for Evan to come walking in, for everyone to jump up and shout that he'd been pranked right back.
As much as he felt he could've just stood there forever, Michael knew he had to leave, and so he shut off the light and shut the door, continuing his walk to his bedroom, right close enough to Elizabeth's to hear her sobbing loudly.
Michael stepped into his own bedroom, setting down the foxy mask he'd been wearing previously, facing it away. He laid onto his bed, feeling like he could just sink into the mattress and stay there forever.
