After Elliot left work, he went to his father's house because he had promised his sister that he would pick her up and take her to his house to bake her favorite white chocolate chips and raspberry cookies and also to play with her all afternoon.
When he arrived at his father's house, he quickly pulled the car over and went inside. When he got there, he was attacked by his sister with hugs and squeals.
"Elliottttt" said Emma in her angelic voice
"Hello squirrel, how are you today?" I asked her with the biggest smile on my face.
"I'm doing well, Elliot, today at school I colored without going outside the lines and I also drew you a picture, do you want to see it? " she said with a very innocent smile
"Congratulations, honey , and of course I'd like to see your drawing. How about we go to my house and you show it to me there?"
"All right, I'll just get my bunny," said Emma enthusiastically and ran off.
A few minutes later, I hear "I'm ready, Elliot".
"Okay, honey, let's go"
During the drive, she told Elliot that she was very hungry and he promised her that when they got home, the first thing they would do would be to bake her favorite cookies. He parks the car, takes Emma out of her car seat and they get in.
"Are you ready to bake your favorite cookies?" I asked
"Yes, yes... can we add more white chocolate chips?" she asked with puppy dog eyes.
"Of course we can, sweetheart ," I said, laughing at her facial expression
We cooked and played all afternoon and when it was time to take her home, she didn't want to, and I couldn't blame her, she was going home to parents who didn't care about her, so to make her happy, I promised her we could sleep over during the week so she wouldn't be so sad.
I took her home and, when we got there, no one seemed to care about Emma, so I took her to her room, bathed her, put her pajamas on, gave her cuddles and kisses and I tuck her in, telling her how much I loved her.
When she falls asleep, I go home wondering how her parents can be so indifferent to their daughter and what horrible parents they are.
