PRE-ONE PIECE SEASON ONE
Mahnya had been told from a young age that she was destined to be free. Whether it be the elder's gentle words or her mother's bubbly voice - it was something she heard so often.
It was a rare occurrence that she was found in the village. She'd either be in the forest or out by the beach or even the cliffs some days. She was a wild girl, it had been decided.
From the moment she was made she was restless. Always moving, always going, always longing for more. She was the epitome of a wild child.
Dirt and mud was always smeared across her face - her clothes had rips and tears and were stained green from the long grass surrounding the village. Her curled hair was always full of leaves, sticks and all kind of bugs but Mahnya always refused to have it be put in braids like her mother's hair. Mahnya always had cuts and scrapes from unfortunate accidents that she always forgot about. She was missing a tooth from a particularly unfortunate incident, but she did not care.
Mahnya was wild and free and that was all she cared for.
She loved the wind in her hair when she ran and the salty water stinging her eyes when she opened them underwater. She loved the itchy feeling of grass against her bare legs and the damp smell after it finished raining. She loved life.
(And life loved her too).
But even life could not protect Mahnya forever, no matter how much it longed to.
