Chapter Four: Too Pure to Be Pink

Lawrence Landry came from a long line of leaders.

Each man who came before him was an attorney then ran a successful mayoral campaign to ultimately serve as a senator. He trailed meticulously in their wake.

His daughter was his pride and joy, he adored his Bambi. But just as he adored winter, sipping hot cocoa as his face grew scarlet from the frigid weather, she was born in Summer, on the 28th, during the July 1936 heat wave and terminated the Landry legacy.

That was why Buddy's father, Dick Aldridge, was overjoyed to hear of his son's new connection as possibility lay for a man who Lawrence Landry trusted to follow in his family's famous footsteps and continue the legacy, with a new last name but 50% of the Landry DNA; that all came down to who Amber married. He clung to that as he yearned to establish a line of strong male leaders. He encouraged- pushed his son to pursue Amber, knowing he could easily become Mayor with Lawrence Landry's endorsement, which could only happen if his son went steady with Lawrence's daughter.

Over the weekend, the mothers of the Rydell High students learned about the new gang's mischief at the assembly; they clenched their fists and bared their teeth, faces twisted with rage as they demanded action from the assistant principal over the phone, but McGee was unable to reach their respective guardians since the girls were occupying the line:

Olivia stuffed the phone under a cushion; Cynthia just unplugged it; Nancy picked it up quickly before slamming it down over and over again, and Jane feigned to be taking an important call regarding her assignments.

Meanwhile, Amber would quickly speak into the phone: "My father isn't home! I'll tell him you called." then hung up as McGee stammered in confusion.

Amber's was not truly a deception, but her father was returning, just as the rest of their parents got to the phone and learned about their antics.
