The skin had been singed off of the back of Tricky's leg, and she made a last ditch effort to limp towards us before she finally collapsed onto the ground.
"Tricky!" I bellowed, not wasting another second.
I was quick to pick her up after that. She was sweaty and the leg oozed blood all down my arm, but I ignored that for her sake.
"We have to take her somewhere!" I commanded to the other two.
"Where? This place has literally everything other than what we need!" Nate scoffed, "By we, I don't mean you, since you're not one of us anymore. You'll be fine on your own, apparently."
Will shook his head and slammed his boot on the ground, "SHUT UP!"
I went to speak regardless, but he shoved a finger in my face.
"THAT GOES FOR YOU TOO!" he added hastily, "There are more important things than your petty squabbles!"
He then ran over to my side and helped me lift up the poor girl.
"There has to be a hospital or a first aid office we can bring her to. Even if there aren't any people there, there has to be medicine somewhere."
Without another word, he started to move, and I got dragged alongside him. Damn. Slay, bird boy. Didn't know he had it in him.

**PENNY**

"We lost the vote." I sighed dramatically as the morning sun gathered around us. They'd all made an effort to help me, even Stella with a little bit of help from Matt.
It had been very thoughtful of them to do so, but in the end it meant nothing. The fruits of our labour had dried out before they'd even grown.
"At least Kat's still alive." Ava reassured me, showing me her phone where Kat had returned to the top of the leaderboard.
I looked at her name and then sighed again, but more subtly this time. With relief. What Ava wasn't aware of was how I could now see that Nate was in fifth. But I knew someone who could use this info to our advantage; Yenn.
And so I plucked Ava's phone from her hand and carried it over to him, "Nate! He's on the leaderboard! That means he's alive!"
"Can I have the phone back, please?" Ava smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Oh, yeah! Sorry!" I realised what I'd done, returning her possession.
Matt put a hand to his gas mask, "D- do you think this means that we can find them?"
"Yes! The others have to be alive too, I can feel it!" I grinned at him, patting my chest, just above my heart.
"Don't get your hopes up too high." Yenn reminded me, grounding me.
"Of course... but, oh, I just wish I could tell them that I was ok too!" I groaned.
We all had a moment to think. The silence was a pleasant one, but it did last a while.
The period was finally ended by Alpha, who argued, "Hey, don't you think it'd be a good idea to get on the leaderboard yourself?"
Yenn held out a hand in his direction, "Thank you for finally being a decent person!"
"Woah! Don't get too attached! And also don't die. Yet." he laughed, staring darkly at him. Yenn recoiled.
"There's no time like the present!" Ava interrupted him, "Let's go play some minigames!"
I hugged Ava briefly before running out of the restaurant's back door. I looped back around to the front, which was when I saw it. It was a sign, both physical and metaphorical. An arrow pointed towards our next game, and its besties continued on down the street. I could feel it; this was it! The beginning of the end!

**KAT**

Will was right in the end; there was a hospital. No people in it, of course, but it was a hospital nonetheless. Nate was told to open doors as Will and I carried Tricky and her sizzling leg towards what could be something which could save her life.
Nobody had said anything substantial since Will's outburst. Nobody had anything they needed to say to each other, and the less conversation the better.
Nate opened the first door with a weak shove. We all started to head through the doors, but my legs slowly stopped moving. Will was stopped too, and he looked back at me in annoyance.
"What is it?" Will grumbled impatiently.
"Sorry... I've just had bad experiences with hospitals in the past." I admitted.
Nate rolled his eyes at me and continued on through the hospital. I didn't argue, but I was angry as I continued on through the dilapidated building. I would never understand him.
