As you walked out of your room, you noticed that the hallway lights were dimmer than usual. There were no windows and only a few light fixtures. The dark, stone walls were a common sight. However, you didn't have to see anything else to know that you were back in the underground base of the Mafia. The smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke lingered, and there was the faint sound of men screaming at each other over a game of cards. You knew it well.
"Y/N."
You turned around at the sound of a familiar voice. When you saw who it was, you smiled.
"Choso"
The man in question gave you a warm smile in return. "I just got back from a mission, but I was told you were released from the infirmary yesterday."
You nodded. "Yeah, it wasn't a big deal.
I'm fine now."
"Well, I'm glad to hear that. But still, it would be best if you didn't overexert yourself," he said with a concerned tone.
"You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself, Choso."
"I'm well aware. Still, it's only natural for me to be worried about you, given the circumstances."
"Don't you think you're being a bit too serious about it? I've only known you for a couple of weeks."
"It doesn't matter how long we've known each other. We're family now."
You paused. "Family?"
"That's right," he nodded. "You're part of the Mafia, aren't you? Then you're our family."
"I suppose so," you said quietly. "I'll keep that in mind."
He smiled. "Now, I believe it's time for dinner."
Your stomach growled. "Oh, yeah. I'm starving."
"Shall we?" He asked, extending a hand towards you.
"Sure," you replied, taking his hand.
"Good. Then let's go."
With that, you and Choso made your way to the dining hall.
***
When you got to the dining hall, you saw that the usual crowd was there. It consisted of several members of the Mafia, as well as a few higher-ups. The room was full of the smell of food, and the sound of loud voices.
You found an empty seat next to Gojo and sat down. He smiled at you. "Y/N! How are you feeling? Better, I hope?"
You nodded. "Much better, thanks. But I still feel a little sore."
"Don't worry, that'll go away in no time. Here, have some more sake." He said, handing you a bottle.
"Thanks," you said, taking a sip.
As you drank the alcohol, you thought about the fact that you hadn't even been out of the infirmary for a day, and yet you were already drinking again. You didn't think that was a very good idea. But, on the other hand, you had nothing better to do.
"Hey, Y/N."
You looked up to see that Geto was staring at you. He was sitting across from you, and his eyes were focused intently on yours.
"You've only just gotten out of the infirmary. Why don't you rest a little more? Cant have such a beauty as you unwell for our next mission"
"Thanks, Geto. I appreciate it. But, I really don't mind. I'm fine, honest."
Choso hearing this frowned. He was getting slightly jealous
Geto shook his head. "No, I insist. Take it easy tonight. Besides, the next mission isn't for another couple of days, so we have plenty of time to relax.
"Fine, if you say so."
You turned to look at Choso. "You okay?"
"I'm fine." He answered still bothered by getos attempt at flirting
"Good," you said, giving him a smile.
After dinner, you and Choso decided to go back to your room. You were both tired, and you figured that it would be a good idea to get some rest.
As you were walking through the hallway, a few men were coming down the opposite way. One of them was a man with blue hair, and the other was a tall, dark-haired man. They both looked intimidating, and you didn't like the way they were staring at you.
"Hah, I'd tap that.
"Yeah, me too. Hey, babe, wanna go for a round?"
You ignored them and continued walking.
"What? Don't ignore me, bitch."
"Yeah, show some respect!"
The two men walked up to you and started shouting.
You were getting annoyed, but before you could say anything, Choso stepped in front of you. "She's off limits."
"Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it, pretty boy?"
"I'll kill you."
"Really? Let's see you try."
"Do you know who I am?"
Choso took a step towards them, and the two men backed away. They didn't seem to want any trouble.
"Alright, alright. We're going."
"Yeah, let's get out of here."
You watched them leave, and then turned to Choso.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Are you okay?"
You nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I could have handled those guys myself, though."
"I'm sure you could have, but I couldn't stand by and let them insult you like that."
"So chivalrous," you teased.
"I'm just doing my job."
"Your job? Oh, right. You're supposed to protect me, aren't you? Well, thanks again."
He smiled. "You're welcome."
"Well, I think it's time we went to bed. I'm getting tired."
"Okay, I'll walk you to your room."
"Thanks, Choso."
You and Choso walked to your room, and you quickly got ready for bed. It had been a long day, and you were looking forward to sleeping.
As you were drifting off to sleep, you thought about the past few days. You had a lot to think about, and a lot to figure out. But, for now, all you wanted to do was rest.
****
"Y/N."
"Hmm?"
You opened your eyes to see a concerned Choso looking at you.
"Are you alright? You're sweating and breathing heavily.
"Huh? What?" You were confused and dazed. You felt like you were in a dream, but you knew that you were awake.
"Y/N. Did you have a nightmare?"
"A nightmare?"
Choso nodded. "Yes, a nightmare."
You sighed as you turned slightly red. "I'm not. I don't remember having a nightmare. I just had dream..."
"What kind of dream?"
"I-i uh" You stuttered hiding away from Choso. You couldn't bring yourself to tell him that you dreamed about him.
