Bob was fanning exhaust out of his store, using a small fan to help, though it didn't do much. He sighed as the bell above the entrance rang.
Ding!
"Welcome." Bob said in a monotone voice, not bothering to look your way.
"Oh, hello." You replied, in a slightly quiet voice. People had always told you your voice was pretty, but you never thought so. Apparently, hearing your voice got his attention. His head turned your way, he smiled. "Ah, you aren't.. a regular. I don't believe I've seen you around town? It's quite small haha..." Bob says, now more cheerful. You notice he was looking you up and down. "Yeah, haha.. I actually just moved here the other day. Considering how small the town is, I'm surprised you didn't hear about it." You explain, smiling, you haven't moved from the entrance. "Oh yes, I think I did hear about someone new." He replies, nodding, he's completely forgot about the exhaust still lingering in his store. You look around and cough after a moment, bringing Bob's attention back to the exhaust. "Sorry." He apologizes with a sigh. "It's alright, I saw all the motorcycles coming through. Why do you guys have a stoplight anyways? It doesn't seem like much traffic comes through here." You say, looking at the bare, quiet street outside. "I had tried to get it taken down for years, but it never worked. Eventually, somebody told me that the stoplight was a good thing. It means that out small town is moving up in the world and it can send a good message to everyone, that you should take your time to slow down and admire the great things you have around you." Bob says, also coughing from the small amount of exhaust still in the shop. You smile and put your hands behind your back. "That's really nice." You reply. "I like that." Bob smiles back at you and turns off the small fan on the shelf above him. "Anyways, why did you come to the grocery store? What do you need?" Bob asked. "Oh, just some eggs." You nodded. "I'm assuming you know where they are?"
"Yep."
"Oh, okay, thanks! Do you mind showing me where they are?"
Bob walks around the cash register and nods, signaling for you to follow him to the eggs. He points to a cooler with lots of egg cartons stacked in them. "Ooh, I see. Thanks again." You nod and grab a carton, shutting the freezer door and walking back to the cash register, where Bob had just slid back behind. "Only the eggs." You nod and start to pull out some money, but Bob stops you. "Wait a sec, I think I'll give you those, on the house, okay?" He smiled at her warmly. "What? Really?" You smiled at him brightly. "Thank you so much!"
"It's really no problem at all." Bob said. "Though, I'm flattered." You laugh and smile. "It was very nice to meet you, ...oh, I don't think I have your name." You say awkwardly, along with Bob's awkward look. "Oh, uhm.. It's Bob." He smiles nervously and nods. You smile and nod back, pushing the door open. "Alright, thank you- and bye, Bob!" You yell as you walk out. "Bye." You hear him say back as the door to his shop slams shut behind you.
