A couple weeks later:

"I could for sure go for a burger from my favorite burger joint, I've been craving one since Monday." I grumble to no one in particular, but actually meaning for my bedroom to magically make my favorite burger manifest out of thin air, I hear a chuckle come from my right, I look over at James who is laughing at me while sitting comfortably in my bed, I go to raise my foot to kick him off the bed, when he catches my foot mid kick, "Not again, you've done it enough." he goes back to chuckling at me. "It doesn't work that way, I also wish it did, but unfortunately it's not a part of the bedroom's mystical properties." He informs my pouting face while getting up and stretching out his hand for me to take. "Come tell me about this burger place." My face perks up at that of getting out of this place and just getting sunlight for a few, I start spouting off everything I know about Taz's Burgers, and grab his hand for him to lead me wherever he was taking me.

For the past couple weeks since our talk after my swim in the pool, we've finding time to spend with each other, in between wherever he disappears off to. During that time I roam the place with persyus by my side. I haven't talked to Ana, I feel bad about how I am handling all of the news, embarrassed even, but I don't know how to reconcile with her. I only then come back to earth and see that we are gracing the entrance to a kitchen, James turns around and smiles sheepishly at me. "I was thinking maybe I could help you and make you your favorite meal from Taz's burgers." My heart flips in my chest at his face and his gesture alone, feeling my cheeks heat up. "Of course, I'm grateful."

About twenty minutes later, he places two plates down at a table, but I notice two more plates. "What are you scared that you didn't make it right the first time?" I jokingly say a smile playing on my lips. "No actually, I thought since we are hungry I thought maybe Alec and Ana are also hungry," he looks at me with a pleading look "would you mind fetching Ana while I go and get Alec, I can tell you are feeling sorry about what happened, and so does Ana, I feel like it'll help both of your moods."

"My mood is just," I go to argue, "Moping around with Persyus as the only companionship while I'm gone isn't healthy." My lips pull into a tight smile at that and turn around to retrieve my best friend, grumbling about the know it all the whole way.

I knock on Ana's door, it swings open a few seconds later and my best friend slams into my arms. "I'm so so sorry Em." I wrap my arms tightly around my sister and hug her back. "I'm also sorry Ana, are you hungry? James made my favorite burger and waffle fries from Taz's burgers." Her eyes light up at the information and nods eagerly, following me back down to the kitchen. "How do you not get lost in this place?" Ana questions me as we round another corner. "I 'mope' around the halls with Persyus as James puts it."  she laughs at my tone as we round the corner to the dinning room where both the men were sitting in there respected seats food untouched but a smile playing at their features.

As we walk up to the empty chairs next to them they get up and pull our chair out for us, gesturing for us to sit, and then push our seats back when we do. James gives me a thankful smile while sitting back down, I look down at my plate while my cheeks burn for the second time tonight. "What's this?" Alec asks looking at his plate, or rather more specifically the waffle fries that graced one side of his plate, James chuckles at the questioning look on Alec's face, "They're some type of fry called waffle fries." Alec looks displeased at the answer, "So it's made out of waffles? Why would anyone eat waffles and burgers together seems unappetizing." He responds with a sour look and the rest of us break out in laughter. "They're made out of potatoes like fries are they're just called that because of how they're shaped." Ana informs him in between gasps of laughter, while he sits there and pouts at her and I can't think of any other time my best friend looked happy with someone. I send a thanks to whatever fate brought them together, a small smile playing on my lips.

We finish the amazing food that James made, and are sitting at the table laughing and joking at the stories we are trading back and forth. I start laughing harder when Ana starts the story of sixth grade.

"So picture this, sixth grade, recess, I am on the swings watching some of my classmates play basketball." Ana starts raising her hands as if to silence the table before telling a scary story, which she has always done since I've known her. "When out of nowhere I see the basketball fly to the other side of the playground and smack a girl around my age  in the side of the face, every one and everything paused as a ear piercing scream sounded through the entire playground." Ana and the boys look at me while laughing, "I've never seen someone run as fast as you did that day, you were by my side before the teachers were." I add on while wheezing through my own fit of laughter. "Her face was so red, and starting to bruise, and on top of that the boy who did it,"

"Did it on purpose, because I was the new kid." I finish off and wipe some tears away from my cheeks. "I would pay to see that." Alec says nodding his head. "You know what I would pay to see?" I ask while smirking at the center of his forehead, "That zit in the middle of your forehead to keep forming." Alec's eyes get bigger while his face becomes the same shade as a cherry, while the rest of us laugh at his reaction he gets up  from the table and dashes to the bathroom down the hall. "I love doing that to him." I wheeze out through my laughs, as Alec comes back in with a sour look on his face. "Ana why is your sister always mean to me?" Ana looks up at Alec and then to me with a questioning look as if to ask if I'm okay with it, I smile sheepishly and chuckle. "My sister doesn't have a reason for you, you just got to deal with it." I shrug and say, "It's a gift of hers, the same boy moved to a different school because Em told him something I forgot what it was."

I will eat your hamster if you don't leave me alone. I guess it just really stuck, I smile thinking back to that day.
