Chapter 22

Luke

So not being able to poof out whenever we want to really sucks. We end up at Trevor/Bobby's mansion sweaty and out of breath. I'm not super keen on the idea of living with the guy that took credit for every single one of my songs, but I also know that version of events doesn't even exist now. Sunset Curve was never a thing.

I ring the doorbell and wait. Carrie comes to the door. "Hey Carrie."

She lifts an eyebrow. "Am I supposed to know you?"

Oh crap. This is going to be harder than I thought. "Uh, no, not exactly. We've seen some of your stuff with Dirty Candi on the uh..." shoot, what is that site that plays videos again that make you go viral? "Youtube! We are an up and coming band from Sweden and are here..."

"Through the exchange program!" Alex steps in, coming to the rescue.

"Yeah, that, and we were told that Bo... I mean Trevor Wilson might have extra space for us to stay at for the school year while we apply for the music program." Quick thinking on your feet Luke, I give myself the accolade. It's been a long night. We are doing the best we can under the circumstances.

Carrie's distrusting look eases, and she smiles sweetly at us. "I'm sure something can be arranged." She turns her face away and yells up the stairs. " Daddy! We have visitors!"

Bobby/Trevor comes to the door staring us up and down. Carrie relays the same spiel we just gave her, and Bobby/Trevor's face shifts the same way that Carrie's had. He grins at us. "Come in boys, come in! Of course I have the room. In fact, I have a whole guest house that we rarely use. I'll have Greta the maid get you some fresh sheets and towels, and Carrie can take you out there and get you settled in."

A Maid? Reggie mouths in my direction. I can't decide if this is gonna be super sweet or super uncomfortable. Not that we have much of a choice as we adjust to being human again.

"You know, you boys sort of remind me of some people I knew when I was just starting out. We played in a band together for about a year or so, but then they just sort of vanished. I can't remember much about them, but they were really talented. I remember that."

"I bet one of them was a great song writer right? I bet you learned everything you know from him," I can't help but push the envelope just a little bit.

Bobby/Trevor laughs. "I think there was, but I'd hardly say I learned everything I know from him. This skill is all hard work and dedication baby."

All three of us give each other a look, and I roll my eyes.

Bobby/Trevor clears his throat, "Anyway, I'm sure you boys are tired coming all this way from Sweden. If you ever start to miss home, just say the word, and we can make a day trip of it in my private helicopter. Carrie, sweetheart, take them to the guest house will you?" He kisses her head and leaves the room.

"Follow me." Carrie sashays outside, and I can't help but think she is trying to flirt with us just a bit. It is so freaking weird that they can see us.

"So it should be fully stocked with everything you need. If you need anything else," She takes my hand and pulls a pen out of her pocket and writes a number on my arm. "Call or text me. We also have a call button, but that goes to Greta."

"Uh yeah, cool, thanks," I stutter pulling my sleeve down over the number.

"It was nice meeting you..." She is waiting for us to give her our names. We do. "Right well, I guess I'll see you in the morning for school. I can give you the grand tour, show you where to get your schedule, tell you which kids are the cool kids and which kids you should probably steer clear of."
