Ryan arrived home with his baby girl and he could not process the fact that it was just the two of them for life.

Later that day the ambulance brought Rachel back home and Ryan informed Mr.Wilson and few of their friends. They arrived at Ryan and Rachel's to pay homage to Rachel. Everyone felt sad for Ryan and the little one.

Ryan distanced himself from everyone and started living his life for his little girl. For a year he did not leave her for even one moment, he stayed with her all the time.

He watched her roll over, crawl, clap, walk, giggle, laugh and everything with such amusement in his eyes. He thought about Rachel all the time looking at Lily's little actions, how he wanted to watch it with Rachel, how he wanted to film them together and reminisce the moments once Lily grew old enough.

After Lily's first birthday, he started working again. His colleagues were understanding, they helped him work lesser hours and go back to his baby girl. He sometimes brought her to his workplace and his colleagues took great care of her.

Ryan was moved by their acts. He was grateful that she could get so much love but he was sad at the same time because his little girl was getting everyone's love except for her mother's.

Ryan showered Little Lily with everything she could ever have. He brought her up so well that she never seeked for her mother's presence. Ryan did everything to make Lily have the best.

Ryan hired a woman for house keeping since it was difficult for him to work at the office, take care of Lily and manage the house at the same time. Mrs.Brown, the maid was older than Ryan almost his mother's age and she pampered Lily just like how a grandma would.

When Lily was two and a half years old, Ryan shifted from California receiving a transfer to Virgina. To their aid Mrs. Brown gladly moved with them since she had no family left in California after her husband died since they did not have kids.

Ryan bought a two-storey house and Mrs.Brown rejected getting paid because she was staying with them anyway. Lily interacted with Mrs.Brown and slept a lot during the day and she played with her dad all night. Despite being tired, Ryan never neglected providing attention to Lily.

A few months after Lily became three she spoke her first word. It was when Ryan has just dozed off with Lily in his arms and she tapped on his arm making him open his eyes and look at her.

"What does my baby girl want ?" he asked sweetly.

"D-da-d-da" she said.

Ryan's eyes went wide in awe and he knelt in front of her on the bed while she was sitting in front of him.

"Say that again !" he exclaimed.

"D-da... da" she giggled.

Ryan brought her close to his chest and teared up.

He looked up when he heard a knock on the door. It was Mrs.Brown with worry visible in her eyes "What's wrong son ?" she asked.

"Everything's right Mrs.Brown" he placed Lily carefully on the bed "say that again please?" he asked Lily and looked at Mrs.Brown who looked rather confused.

Lily followed her dad's gaze and giggled at Mrs.Brown. She then looked back at Ryan who sat in front of her with expectation.

"D-dada" she blurted and giggled cutely.

Mrs.Brown let her tears fall down as she stood by the door and looked at Ryan holding his baby close to him once again.

"Get some sleep son" Mrs.Brown spoke and left as Ryan nodded looking at her.
