Diana looked down at her lap nervously, waiting for her name to be called. She had been preparing all month, and it was finally time to audition for SM Entertainment.
Diana sported a braided hairstyle with studded earrings, a sleeveless pink shirt, pink jeans, and essential pink-and-white sneakers for her SMROOKIE audition.

"Trainee 0354, Xuē Diana?" the staff member called.
Diana wondered if everyone heard her loud heartbeat as she stood in the middle where others sat.
"Yes!" she said, wincing at her loudness.
"Are you Chinese?"
"Chinese-Brazilian, ma'am. My Chinese name is Xiùlan."
The staff members murmured to each other and looked her over.
"Age 9, born in 1999?" An intimidating-looking woman said as she looked at Diana's application form.
"Y-yes," Diana stuttered, playing with her fingers.
"We want to see you sing, dance, and rap today." The same woman said with authority, and Diana nodded, bowing.

Diana finished her performance smoothly and bowed.
"Thank you. That is all for today." The woman said, her emotionless face never changing.
"Thank you." Diana bowed 90 degrees before walking back to where she sat before.
Grabbing her Girls Generation hoodie from her bag, Diana put it on and put her hoodie over her head.
Now that she finished the audition, she didn't have to pretend she wasn't cold in the room.
"You were good. I wouldn't worry about them passing you," A boy taller than her said when the trainees were instructed to leave.
Diana looked the boy up and down. He was handsome with a bright smile and looked rather friendly.
"Thank you. I didn't see you audition," Diana bowed, gesturing to her room.
"I'm already a trainee. My name is Oh Sehun, and I am a '94 liner," Sehun bowed, reaching his hand out for her to shake.
Diana shook it. "I'm Xuē Diana, a '99 liner."
"Diana? That's pretty," Sehun smiled, and Diana wondered if all male trainees were as pretty as him.
"Thank you. Do I call you oppa or sunbae? If you're an older trainee?" Diana wondered.
"Sunbae works. Oppa might get you in trouble around here," Sehun tried to joke and Diana smiled weakly.
Sehun ran his hand through his black hair, smiling. "I hope you become a trainee. That way, you can meet the rest of the SMROOKIES. Right now, it's a lot of boys. Besides Seulgi-noona. But don't worry, they're all fun!"
