You stood next to Amanda in shock, too stunned to speak when the familiar man turned around and smirked, he approached you and flicked his finger under your chin forcing you to look up and make eye contact.
"Detective I-" you sputtered as he cut you off.
"Shh." He snickered "it seems you've finally proved your worth enough to be in on my little secret." He smiled menacingly.
"I guess so.." you moved away from him. You looked around the room and saw your two test subjects unconscious and John covered in blood. "Is this the game?" You asked.
"Dr Lawrence Gordon and a shady photographer that's been following him around, very fitting" Amanda laughed
"I've ingested a mild paralytic to slow my breathing and keep me still" John said beginning to lay down "let the game begin"
John laid down and the three of you quickly cleaned up your tools and exited the bathroom, shutting off the lights and locking the door. Hoffman approached you and Amanda. He directed you both back to the warehouse to prepare the next few games.
"I don't know who you think you are, but I only take orders from John" she snarked at him, he rolled his eyes and grabbed your arm to keep you from following her.
"Taking after Amanda is something you don't want to do" he snarked "she won't be around for long" chills flew down your spine at his words.
He directed you back to the warehouse, you followed him like a lost puppy, following his every demand and move. Making him crack a smirk, you worked closely together planning new games and overseeing the current game. You let out a faint yawn as the sky turned dark, you grabbed your things and wrapped up what you were doing before heading for the exit, you looked over to Amanda resting peacefully but Hoffman was no where in in sight. You looked around as you made it to the door but didn't see him, you headed out and went to your car yawning once more. You sat slightly nodding off as you sat at the wheel. You were jerked out of your daze by a hard knock on the window, you fluttered your eyes and looked over to see Hoffman glaring in. You quickly rolled down the window.
"I'll need you to come down to the station tomorrow for more questioning." His cold glare pierced through you "you impressed me today, that doesn't come easily" you blushed slightly.
"Thank you detective." You smiled "I'll see you tomorrow ?"
"That you will, and don't forget about the game" he pat your car and walked away. Your stomach was festered with butterflies, you had such an odd feeling towards Hoffman, something about his dark aura and reservation was quite attractive.
You smiled as you started the car and drove off, It felt good feeling emotions again. Having a clear head really made you have a new appreciation for life, John truthfully did save you and you feel doing his work was going down the right path. Throughout the drive your head was filled with peaceful and calming thoughts, you pulled up to your house and parked the car. You grabbed your things and headed up to the door, you stood at the door rustling through your bag looking for your keys, just as you grabbed them to unlock the door a hand comes up behind you and touches your shoulder. You let out a gasp and jerked around towards Hoffman.
"Detective! You scared the crap out of me" you held your hand to your chest trying to catch your breath. "Did you forget something?" You calmed down and crossed your arms, shooting him a concerned look.
"For tomorrow, I'm going to need us to be on the same page with your story, new information came to light and I have to ensure I'm not found out" he yawned "we can make it quick."
"Oh, alright. Come in." You opened the door and led him to the living room. You let out another yawn as you both sat down onto the couch.
"Where to start ." He slightly let his guard down. "First you're going to need to make sure your story stays consistent, you told me you stumbled home after. Which was a lie, lies often change" he stated firmly
"Don't worry Detective, my story is as follows: I was drinking at the bar until closing where I got into a fight outside and as I walked away near the alley I was attacked and didn't remember anything after that until I woke up in the trap, I did what was asked of me on the tape, left the location through a timer activated unlocked door, I rushed home to tend my wounds and went to bed." You cracked an awkward smile.
"Wow" he said with a surprised tone "you do this a lot don't you:" he laughed
"Not anymore since I've been working with John; but I can be quite the story teller to get myself out of trouble" you smirked, shortly yawning after.
"Well I guess we're done then, I must say It's reassuring to finally have someone competent and reliable" he snickered "whatever you do don't be Amanda." He rolled his eyes followed by a smile "see you at 8 am sharp" he tapped your thigh and headed out, you blushed.
You locked the door behind him and scurried off to your bedroom; you didn't have the energy to change so you just slipped off your jeans and bra and jumped into bed. Despite being horrifically tired you could not get yourself to fall asleep, you caught yourself getting all giddy thinking about Hoffman, his smirk and scoffs filling your mind. Something about his cold and reserved personality was breathtaking, you scoffed thinking you were too old to have a school girl crush but you couldn't help but to be all festered up about him. After what felt like hours day dreaming you finally managed to fall asleep, he even invaded yourdreams.
