Today was the day Eric Matthews and the rest of the police department will fall into their part of the game. The apprentices were banned from making any entrance to the warehouse. You had just finished putting Daniel into the safe and set the monitors up when Hoffman approached you.
"Almost go time." He said as he began covering the screens with the sheet. "Good work with Daniel, he was very close to not making it to the antidote."
"Thank you Mark, you should know by now I take my work seriously." You said coldly, still being slightly irritated at him walking out on you last night.
"I know you do." He stood behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulders. "I'm begging for your forgiveness Y/N."He started kissing your neck.
"Tell me where you ran off to then." You smirked, breaking away to face him "what's the big secret" you wrapped your arms around the back of his neck.
"In time, trust me. I promise you can know more soon." He kissed your forehead "I'll make it up to you." His hands wandered down your back, you couldn't stay mad.
"Alright but you owe me lunch." You kissed him and walked out alongside Dr.Gordon and Amanda.
"This hideout is compromised, we will resume in the Gideon warehouse from now on, we should be able to meet tomorrow, I will be sure to alert you if anything changes." Mark instructed "John will be able to escape. We've ensured that." Everyone nodded and went your separate ways. Mark trailed behind you, grabbing your hand and holding it as you both walked back to his car.
~~~~~~~~~~
You and Mark had pulled up to your house, as usual you invited him in. He sat on the couch, he looked tense. You grabbed yourselves water from the kitchen and sat down beside him. He kept flipping his phone open and closed as if he was waiting for an important call or text.
"Mark..." you said warmly as you put your hand on his shoulder "what's wrong? Did something happen?"
"It's nothing." He said coldly as he closed his phone and put it away.
"Mark... I know something's up." You moved your hand back to your side. Slightly bothered by his chilled tone.
"Y/N I told you nothing. I can't believe I put up with your nonsense" He got up; throwing his hands up "I have to go.. I'll see you tomorrow after the game is done" he stormed out without any form of affection or goodbye.
You sat there dumbfounded, confused and hurt. You got up and paced around, nervously cleaned up the house, You went to the kitchen noticing a half empty bottle of alcohol sitting on the counter, you held it in your hands and swished the liquid around. You bit your lip in temptation, you quickly put the bottle down and walked off continuing to clean but you kept thinking about that bottle.
~~~~~~~~~
You sat at the kitchen table staring at the bottle, your mouth was watering and destructive thoughts filled your mind. Fuck it. You grabbed the bottle and knocked off the cap chugging some down. You stopped yourself for a moment, quickly succumbing to the temptation. Your vision grew blurry, you became elated and didn't feel sad or confused anymore. You stumbled over to the door with a goal to make it to your favorite drinking spot. You joyfully made your way into town, You entered the bar and started ordering your usual rounds before jigsaw. John had crossed your mind but not enough to stop, You drank and drank until last call. By the time 2 am rolled around you were blasted, not a single coherent word left your mouth, the room was spinning and blurry, you didn't feel a thing. You stumbled out of your chair and scuffed your feet out the door giggling. Everything was funny from the little squirrels rustling around in the trees to the flickering streetlights as you made your way back home. The rest of the way home became a blur. You felt yourself moving but couldn't comprehend what was happening or where you were going. It all went black.
